I find her very intimidating. She answered those questions like a seasoned politician. There is something off about a teen that is that polished and slick. An adult in a teen body. |
Are you visiting the same wrath on Israel? |
I find it odd that you and others are so immature and hateful towards a teenager playing a game. Grow up! |
She is extremely well spoken. I think it is to be expected that someone with a near-perfect SAT score would know how to organize and express her thoughts. Although no politician would say they don't care about "placating the uneducated who will never win the Olympics". That was kind of badass. |
True. That was so obnoxious. But outside of that she was scary impressive. I dont dislike her. I don't care if she want to ski for china or the usa or some.other country. It's sports competition not a world war. |
Her mom said they’re not sure whether she’ll do another event at this point or not. |
That is the work of her tiger mother. Her mom controls all media, asks to review articles, controls all access to her daughter. Her mom is also notorious for all her scary demands. |
I guess. I think it is worse not to try to protect a teen that is getting this level of scrutiny. She answered the questions the way they needed to be answered to protect herself. |
Stanford gives athletic scholarships, but the Ivy League does not. Chloe Kim, Nathan Chen, and Vincent Zhou are not getting scholarships. |
Her mother is the reason why she's getting this scrutiny, though. |
| Gu is a CCP mouthpiece. You have to be dumb not to see it. |
I read elsewhere the banned substance is trimetazidine, a “micro dose”, whatever that means, from a December sample. Similar uses to melodium. Considering she’s only 15, I wouldn't jump to conclusions that she was complicit in this. But considering the other two Russian competitors have the same coach/doctor, i imagine they will be under suspicion too. After her long program earlier this week, I thought she looked unusually winded. Not that slaters often don’t look out of breath after programs but for some reason hers was more noticeable. Her program is unprecedented for female skaters. |
+1. I feel awful for her. She's obviously going through a very hard time, doubting herself, and I'm sure the absence of her dad at this most important competition with all this pressure takes a huge toll. The amount of pressure that world-class athletes endure is incredible and attitudes like PP's only makes it worse. They're talented and work insanely hard, but they're still human. |
Reminds me of Dan Jansen. Really heartbreaking. It doesn't matter that it was a year ago. Grief is not linear, and I'm sure the emotional intensity of the Olympics is bringing up a lot feelings. |
Unfortunately they won't get medals for it... |
