I did, and found nothing supporting that ridiculous claim.

Her own live video. Not that you'll let facts get in the way of your idiotic optimism.

I scanned through the video. I'm not going to claim I watched the whole thing, but I tried to stop when the governor was making remarks. I heard nothing about "permanent" social distancing requirements or gathering restrictions. And again, there's nothing that I've seen on that in the press. Got a timecode in the 2 hour video you linked to?

Not specifically off-hand. About 45 minutes in, she talks about how the restrictions are good for colds and the flu and therefore should be continued post-vaccine.

We will probably be like Asia, where when one feels sick and must be outside, one wears a mask voluntarily. It's not illegal not to wear a mask right now, so I seriously doubt once the pandemic is under control that there will be any appetite for mandatory mask wearing.

It's funny how you think "technically not illegal" means it doesn't drastically affect people's lives.

First of all that person isn't going to be governor forever..

Just move to Florids where you can do want you want. Leave your poor daughter behind with dad since he can handle a little adversity.

You are the one making your life difficult.

As the last poster said, I *very* strongly suspect you misinterpreted the statement. It's one thing to recommend masks and generally being more careful when you're sick, it's something entirely different to suggest legal requirements to practice social distancing, wear masks, and limit gathering sizes would continue.

Sure, I suspect we'll see more people wearing masks during flu season, but I highly doubt we'll see legal orders continue past the pandemic.

You have too much trust in the government you hate

Huh? I'm seriously not following.

You're trusting Trump's government to drop restrictions, even though you hate him.

NP - if it were up to Trump we’d have no restrictions. All the various restrictions come from the state and local governments at this point. The federal government (for better or for worse) has 0% to do with it.

You do realize you're talking in circles, right? The governor of New Mexico is a Democrat. Trump is a Republican. You're really having to twist things to try to make your crazy arguments. Seriously, step away from the keyboard and get some real help.

"yeah this might be one really weird school year! but one out of life isnt that bad right? at least we get to hang out!" "Its so awesome we have zoom to talk to grandpa during the germ problem, imagine if we didnt!" and I tell them we do not know if a vaccine will come for years, but, the scientists are working and will probably find some good treatments and things will ease up in a year. We have sprinkled these comments throughout the last few months adn it has helped. At first they thought it would be better by summer, but now they know its taking longer and we all just float on.

Just keep swimming 😊🌈❤️

Now that Biden has announced his intent for a national mask mandate and further restrictions, I thought I'd bump this up. DD cries every day because she can't go to school. We're in the process of moving somewhere she can, but let's face it - things will get worse for her. Time to have this discussion yet?

What discussion? Things are this bad because we didn't have a national strategy and national compliance. As a result this nonsense will go on for another 18 months-2years instead of able to be relatively controlled after the vaccine rolls out.

Still, by the time the next Presidential election rolls around we will likely be more like, 'oh remember how much 2020 sucked and how sh*tty that pandemic was?' instead of wondering if we can go home for the holidays.

A short term national mask mandate and national travel restrictions, if it actually happened and there was compliance, could shorten that to more like next fall timeline. If you would rather your DD cry for two years instead of one while maintaining your desired level of freedom well that's an interesting choice but its yours.

You’re just a complete idiot. Sorry. The pandemic determines when we get to go back to normal. The fact that Biden actually wants to try to control it using public health measures means that will happen sooner than the alternative. But honestly you just sound really stupid so you probably won’t understand that.

DP. You do realize what you just said is completely false though, right? Ultimately we decide when we go back to normal. We can either decide to wait until the pandemic is under control, or we can decide to go back to normal now and accept that a few more hundred thousand people will die.

If your DD cries everyday about this you need to focus on what’s happening with her instead of whining about how things suck. Sounds like your own warped personal mindset about this is affecting her. Knock it off. Work on healthy coping strategies and routines she likes. Find things to look forward to and plan — wouldn’t you know it Halloween is coming up, great place to start. Start talking every day in small increments and age appropriate information about what’s happening so you don’t have one day of DOOM to tell her all the bad things. Full out Sheltering is unhealthy, you know this. And yes use virtual connections which are better than nothing. You are the adult. Your job is to parent through circumstances you can’t control, not whine and create more drama than we all already have. Do your job, be a leader, a teacher, a source of comfort. Focus on your kid, she’s not doing well and she needs you to help her navigate, not escalate.

DC are in MS and no way am I going to tell them this will never be over. I have no idea what will happen next year!! To be honest, I am not really sure what is happening THIS year with all of the conflicting messages.

This.

How can you be so doomsday and cruel to a 6yo to say that the world as she knew it will never return? You're not exactly raising a resilient optimist with that approach, OP. None of us have any idea when this will be over and what life will look like in the future (or tomorrow, for that matter!) My kids know that we can't predict anything, that we'll figure it out and they and we will all be ok on the other side of it.
