I am not Swami but I think you could squeak into any. Which is your preference? |
| Swami, we are #22 for Latin for fifth grade. Any hope, or are we so close but yet so far? |
We'd be happy with either ITS and Lee and on the fence about MV. |
Why on the fence? |
|
Swami - help needed on timing. We are #3 on Hyde for PK4 (in-boundary preference).
We are hopefully given the low number but also know Hyde is pretty pressed this year. You think we might get a call in early/mid May? Or later? |
And why do you think you'd be happy with ITS and Lee? Hopefully you are basing all this on real life disucssions and observations rather than on posts or an absence of posts on DCUM. |
We are basing this on open houses, conversations with parents and teachers at both schools, and suitability to our child's learning style and personality. MV we're less sure about because 1st grade seems late to start a language immersion program, as well as conversations with current parents. DCUM can be helpful, but it's obviously not a reliable resource for actual research on suitability, etc. |
Because by putting their kid in MV in first grade they’re being set up to fail? |
That's going to be a nail biter. Sincerely, #28 last year on Lee Pk3 WL (got in on count day) |
Swami thinks you will stall in the 30s for MV8, but receive a SSMA offer in August, and a Takoma offer by Count Day. Golden Beads it is! |
Swami thinks you are going to be counting your chickens and following the IFA on Facebook up until the bitter end. With a number in the 30s, you may well be a lucky winner with the MV8 shuffle. Swami realizes this is a bold prediction. |
Swami fears this at least the temporary normal with CHML swinging for two years. Lucky older siblings are going to bring in their younger sibs at all the Hill charters. |
Swami thinks the glut of Montessori seats would be in your favor, but when you stall in the top five, you will seek pink towers elsewhere. |
Swami knows 1st grade is the place to be in the lottery, and thinks you will get offers at all of the above-- before the first day of school. At the end of the day the school break aftercare coverage and no uniform will push your lover of mismatched clothes over the finish line at ITS. |
So far. So very very far. -Swami |
