This Is Us. Season 3

This is a very weird and unbelievable storyline.

Can someone plesae clear this up for me. How can randall run for council in a state he does not even reside in? He even admits publicly he lives in Jersey. I don't think signing his dads lease is enough, if anything its residency fraud (spend sometime on DC school forum and you will know what I mean). And I would love to see flashbacks to Beth. I lover and I think she has sisters so that would probably be great or to see her in College with Randall.

I was heartbroken watching Toby trying to cope with his depression, as I've been there before. It looks like Beth might be suffering from depression now as well.

I think the Vietnamese woman that Jack was involved with dies. Or maybe she does have his baby, but he was never aware of it.

I am supremely sick of Randall always trying to save the day. If the residents of that town aren't interested in improving their lives, then he needs to move on and stop trying to insert himself. Get a job.

I love Kevin. He always, always makes me laugh. Actually so does Randall, when he's not being super earnest and in do-gooder mode. Beth too - very funny.

Roll your eyes all you want, but of course her weight is a distraction. You may wish it wasn't, but that doesn't make it so.

A distraction from what?

Like you would be unable to interact with a overweight person because you would be so focused on his or her weight?

That is your issue.

The only storyline that is believable at this point is Kevin's. I think plenty of us wonder about our parents' early lives and he has the means to go to Vietnam. Randall's quest to become city councilman in another state makes no sense, and even if they saved up a lot of money, it seems a bit far-fetched to have Beth working on his campaign instead of getting a real job. And to have Kate, at her weight, get pregnant after her first round of IVF also seems unlikely given her odds.

At this point, I'd love to see more of the story about how Rebecca and Miguel got together. Even the Jack as Superdad flashbacks are getting stale.

This was the first episode I thought was stale across the board.

I agree about all of this. There's no subtlety to any of the adult characters.

The run in for city council bugged me so much I looked it up on the Philly government site. I could not find anywhere that said you HAD to live there, but in the reams of paperwork needed to file your candidacy, you had to include a residential OR business address. I guess his apartment building ownership counts for that. Dumb storyline anyway.

The only bright spot was the new campaign manager John/ Jai Won (sp?). He is very cute.

+1

Distracted PP has issues.

Maybe distraction isn't the only word. Maybe frustrating or obvious or frustratingly obvious also applies.
With Kate many of her issues are tied to her obesity. She knows it. It is obvious to evereyone, but no one else can mention it when she whines about not being able to do things the "normal" way because it hurts her feelings.
I'm surprised the show has backed off of her day to day weight-related issues. Like when she supposedly flew out to Los Angeles for the surgery, my first though was wouldn't she need 2 plane seats to accomodate her?
Not to mention some of us may have a "Kate" in our lives. They can be exhausting and frustrating as time goes on.

Why did Randall tell the councilman his campaign strategy and declare himself the winner? That was the height of stupid and arrogant! He seems enthusiastic, but part of me hopes he loses.

I just caught up last night, and YES, it was very stale, yuck. I hope the show isn't totally going downhill.

If distracted PP has issues, then I guess I do as well. She is so morbidly obese, it is distracting.
