If the GOP is serious about cutting government spending, why is their first fight over lifting the debt limit? I thought they were going to be cutting spending on day 1? |
Smart people know this! You get what you vote for! |
Well, the Republican’s could not pass their own bill. They are voting now but too many Republicans have already voted against so it will fail. |
Ah so we just figured out why President Musk decided to come out against it. Get ready for more of this. The US Government is now just an instrument for advancing the interests of Tesla and SpaceX. |
Because they never took an American civics class and vote blindly against their own interests. |
Why are R's not supporting this stripped down bill? I don't understand--what do they want? a two sentence straight extension? or they just want the govt closed until 1/20, so nothing will satisfy them? |
This is what Elon was advocating yesterday. |
The GOP is not a serious party and is not serious about governing. This has been evidence for years. The next 2-4 years is going to be a total sh*tshow. |
There are about a dozen of them that vote against every CR no matter what. The party is full of cranks and idiots. |
Continuing resolution fails: 174-235.
Godspeed. |
Merry Christmas and a ho ho ho to you. |
It is not clear to me what the Rs that voted against it want. It might not be clear to them either. Unless they pass something tomorrow, Christmas is going to suck for a lot of people. |
Well they wasted a whole day on that plan that was obviously doomed when no one bothered to talk to the people they needed to vote for it. What’s Johnson’s next brilliant plan? |
First fight? They wanted the debt limit to be intact for two years. So no leverage; keep it going until after the 2026 midterms. Is that wise from a negotiating point of view? I can see why big spenders would want it, but seriously? When exactly do you think we're going to tackle the debt problem, which from my numbers show it at ![]() |
Shit, shut us down until January 6. |
