Godspeed.

It is not clear to me what the Rs that voted against it want. It might not be clear to them either. Unless they pass something tomorrow, Christmas is going to suck for a lot of people.

Johnson could bring the bill negotiated with the senate to the house floor and it would pass.

First fight?

They wanted the debt limit to be intact for two years. So no leverage; keep it going until after the 2026 midterms. Is that wise from a negotiating point of view?

I can see why big spenders would want it, but seriously? When exactly do you think we're going to tackle the debt problem, which from my numbers show it at

I should have put a /s after my post.

But Elon and Vivek would then kick Mike out of their group text.

He won't politically survive this anyhow. So he may as well go down with not everyone hating him.

Why are R's not supporting this stripped down bill? I don't understand--what do they want? a two sentence straight extension? or they just want the govt closed until 1/20, so nothing will satisfy them?

This is what Elon was advocating yesterday.

How could any serious person advocate shutting down the USG until 1/20? That is going to wreck the economy and hurt a lot of ordinary people in and out of government.

I guess when you're a billionaire, you don't care about wrecking the economy because you have enough money to ride it out and survive and maybe even pick up some companies at a lower price?

But, seriously, who does he think is going to buy Teslas when we the economy collapses?

Okay. Now you're blaming Jeffries for Johnson's inability to whip his party. I mean, Musk's inability to whip his party.

Let them do it. It’ll be a rough month, but Trump will be the first president to become a lame duck before even being sworn in.

How is that going to wreck the economy?

You realize there were eight shutdowns in Reagan's term. Yet here we are.

Is the sky still falling?
