Jeffries already had a deal with Johnson and the more sane Republicans to keep the government open. Elon, Trump and the less-sane Republicans have blown up that deal. If they want the government to stay open they either need to change course or back down or make some concessions to win back the Democrats. A shutdown isn't Jeffries' doing, and its not the Democrats job to fix it when they aren't the ones who broke it. |
