Kate Middleton looks really happy lately

Just calling it like I see it, pretty neutral here. I really don’t like the toxicity of pitting the two women against each other. They’re clearly very different; that’s ok with me. I do think William thinks he’s #1 above Kate, whereas Harry puts Meghan ahead of himself.

Agree.

+1. I like Kate, I just think William seems like he sucks. My impression is that William treats those close to him fairly poorly, whether it's his younger brother or his wife, and that Kate and Harry have just taken very different approaches to dealing with it, in part because it's different being an adult sibling than being a spouse/mother of his kids.

Well said, PP. I actually admire the hell out of Harry for putting his wife above everything and getting her the hell out of that toxic situation.

I admit that I think Kate is very unhappy with William (and I’ve posted as much), but I feel very confident that she’ll do what she thinks is best for her children.

I am not a fan of patriarchal or “authoritarian” style families where the Dad is head of household, has decision making authority, makes the rules, and comes first and is catered to by mom and the kids. That’s William’s family. Obviously that happens somewhat because it is a Monarchy and William will be King but I think it has made him pick up habits of controlling men.

He gets very angry when things don’t go his way and it shows. Kate looks at times like a lot of women who’ve learned to walk on egg shells not to upset the guy and make him mad. I don’t think Prince Philip felt that way around the Queen. She wasn’t treated as a future Queen from birth. That happened later when her Uncle abdicated the throne. Charles was “raised” to be King and he is also short tempered and spoiled. Harry felt lucky to find Meghan and William thinks Kate is lucky to have him. That’s the difference. I also think Kate looks like a great mother.

I am not a fan of Kate’s going along with the quid pro quo that Kensington Palace has with the tabloids. She’s complicit in the horrendous treatment of H&M by the tabloids and that is going to happen to Charlotte and Louis if she continues playing the game with William.

Catherine, Princess of Wales shows how its done: Dignified, gorgeous, stable, and classy. As for lessers who try to cut her down, she’ll have the last laugh as wife of one future king, mom of another, and future queen consort.

Perfectly stated, PP. ^^

Whenever I see her standing next to a normal person I am shocked by how tiny her hips and waist are! Wow.

Your speculation about both marriages and all four individuals sounds like a reflection of your own issues -- not theirs.

That is an absurd response to my perfectly benign comment about people who have no idea we exist.

Well Harry doesn’t have a choice because his wife wears the pants. He actually got *the RF* out of a toxic situation. But if you think he and his wife are thriving, alright.

I would love to see what Kate eats over the course of a week.

Literally could have said this about any number of William’s droves of divorced relatives at one point or another. And why would the state of their marriage have anything to do with if their children are loved or not? Literally no one has suggested their children are unloved. It’s just the hysterical hyperbole at any disagreement that is hurt so crazy.

Why wouldn't the Waleses be a happy and functional (relatively considering the public lifestyle) family? They certainly look it and I think that is very hard to fake consistently. It may not be the lifestyle for you but Kate knew what she was getting into and she is doing it beautifully. It is all sunshine and roses behind the scenes? Probably not but that is because it is hard work. She is doing a lovely job just like Queen Elizabeth did.

The whole point is that they don't fake it consistently. There are frequent instances of William being rude, aloof, or dismissive of Kate and her looking hurt. When things look "perfect" it's because Kate is doting on the kids and William and he looks neutral. He rarely looks particularly invested in her or the kids. At best he's got a frozen smile on his face while they are nearby.

Kate always looks much more relaxed and happy when she is on her own or just with the kids. Any event with William she looks much more rigid. Still of course smiling and putting on a good face, but stiffer and less natural.

They really do not do that many events together, either. Which is interesting.

Yeah I definitely do not see what you see.
