Here’s my question: Can’t management just hire scabs and quickly train them? I’m sure there are plenty of smart, well-qualified people who would be willing to work for the deal that ILA turned down. And if these dockworker jobs are as hard to get as people claim—where you need unbelievable connections to even get an interview—then it’s not like they would be burning any bridges by taking these jobs. They had no chance of getting hired to begin with.

I think the dockworkers would physically intimidate the scaps enough to quit. I bet they would follow them home and make their lives general hell. They have a lot to lose, but not undeservingly so. They are being greedy, over played their hand and biting the hand that feeds them. I would fire them all and automate as fast as possible.

The Longshoremen Union is effectively the mob. Their leader, Harold Daggett, is a long time associate of the Genovese crime syndicate. They will literally murder anyone that crosses their picket lines. No one is crossing those lines. What's happening today is an extortion racket. And it should be regarded as such.

If this union isn't broken, I suspect states and shipping companies will start to look at older ports to see if they can be retrofitted into fully automated modern facilities that can accommodate container ships. But that will take years. In any event, it's clear that fully automated ports are a national security necessity. The fact that a cabal of mobsters can shut down trade to the US is ridiculous. And if Harris continues to stand with the union, there is no chance she's getting elected a month from now when everyone will be feeling the effects of a ports shutdown.

Read some facts. Two days ago BIDEN pressured the employer poets to counter with 50% raise when they were going with 30-40%.

They went back with 50% and that empowered the corrupt union more.
