The Longshoremen Union is effectively the mob. Their leader, Harold Daggett, is a long time associate of the Genovese crime syndicate. They will literally murder anyone that crosses their picket lines. No one is crossing those lines. What's happening today is an extortion racket. And it should be regarded as such.

If this union isn't broken, I suspect states and shipping companies will start to look at older ports to see if they can be retrofitted into fully automated modern facilities that can accommodate container ships. But that will take years. In any event, it's clear that fully automated ports are a national security necessity. The fact that a cabal of mobsters can shut down trade to the US is ridiculous. And if Harris continues to stand with the union, there is no chance she's getting elected a month from now when everyone will be feeling the effects of a ports shutdown. [/quote]

If the Union is this untouchable, then why don’t they demand $500 an hour?  Or $1000 an hour?  There must be some breaking point.  And why is Harris sticking with a Union that is openly supporting Trump?[/quote]
