Just FYI on the WSJ article, quite a few doctors / epidemiologists on Twitter slammed it |
How about the Atlantic article? I'm cool with it not being over by April. I just want my summer. https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2021/02/summer-2021-pandemic/618088/ |
Maybe they are the ones who are wrong. |
So how do these doctors/epidemiologists explain global/national/local trends? These same 'glass half empty' experts said that mid-February was going to be a catastrophic peak of biblical proportions. |
DP. It was. It peaked early. (Just like our big snowstorm.) Now I want to hear if this will be it or if we're in for the third wave later this year or next year. |
Interesting twitter thread by Youyang Gu on that. He's saying that while it's very possible that there's a fourth wave, it will very likely be nowhere near the past ones. https://twitter.com/youyanggu/status/1362476060907077636 |
That's a good point. I think we all need to realize that no one really knows anything for sure... these predictions are their best guesses. Sometimes they get things wrong . I love that this thread points towards the optimistic and uplifting articles. Helps me keep my spirits high |
I saw that thread last night, it capped off a day with a lot of good news coming out. ![]() |
I agree. As much as I'd love to have April, I'll take June as all systems are go. |
I liked how he referenced potential selection bias with the various experts. The most negative ones will have their voices amplified. |

More good news from CNN. |
Bumping |
Loved the Atlantic article! |
If like a Spanish flu like graph 3rd wave but much smaller than 2nd wave than crickets |
Can you restate what you mean? Thanks |
