| No. I said pages back that if the Guthries are lucky her remains will be found one day by a hiker and they’ll have that as closure but that’s about it. She has probably long since died. Whatever the circumstances of her abduction, the police don’t actually know, as usual, and she’s too old to get through it in good health. Police rarely solve these things of the abductee doesn’t miraculously turn up again and tell them who did it like Jaycee Dugard or Elizabeth Smart. They don’t know who killed Jonbenet and she was found in her own house within 12 hours. Nancy is gone and they are unlikely to ever fully know what happened to her. |
They know who killed jonbenet. A grand jury voted to indict the parents for child endangerment. The evidence very clearly points to abuse by her brother and her parents covering it up. But yes, police completely mishandled the initial crime scene and investigation. |
Also there was a ton of evidence in JBs case. Including a body and a ransom note written by her mother. |
Ok yes. This seems very odd, especially considering the current situation. But honestly, this was pretty typical Gen X behavior. We did weird stuff like that. I once lodged a knife in my armpit and put ketchup around it to scare my brother. I thought I was being funny. We would pretend to run away from home and spend the afternoon in the alley behind our house acting like we were on the lam and just hanging on by a thread. There was a popular, cute little family movie called Savannah Smiles (ironic) about a little girl who ran away and was held hostage by two convicts. Idk, it was just a different time. |
This is true but my point stands that because the police botched the entire investigation from minute one because they’re hapless idiots, there’s no formal resolution to that case nor any justice. There won’t be in Nancy’s situation either. They do not know who did it and are not any closer to knowing than they were in January. |
I don’t know that she was unable to or if it was uncomfortable or dangerous to walk farther. The kidnapper probably didn’t care about her comfort and forced her to walk at gunpoint, possibly having to hold her up. |
They have extensively questioned and cleared her family. |
| Wouldn't they know from pacemaker data whether she's alive or dead? |
There was a full moon on February 1, 2026, so the night of her disappearance would have been as light as it ever gets. However, I think it would still be pretty dark and require someone that knows the area well, to find their way to wherever they went to dispose of her body. Or a small chance to stow her away alive. Regardless of how light or dark it was, most of the homes near her are on 1+ acres and are set back, with lots of vegetation in the front yard. So house cameras are not going to pick up cars driving by. I heard a local say the easiest place to dispose of a body would be to roll it off a cliff on Mount Lemmon, about an hour away.

Big deal. Stop trying to make fetch happen. |
I wondered the same thing. Seems like the pacemaker would be attached to a cardiologist's network, and irregularities noted. |
No because she moved out of range for her pacemaker to sync to a monitoring device (her phone). They’re short range bluetooth devices so no data is collected unless the pacemaker and monitor (her phone or a device at the doctor’s office) are in short range. |
No, it doesn’t work that way…it has to be in range of her phone, which it syncs to. When she disappeared her phone was left at the house so they fell out of range. |

Based on nothing but speculation, I agree the elder Ms. Guthrie must have died. Otherwise, there would be a serious, credible ransom request.
I fear Savannah’s reported salary/wealth may have prompted this awful mess. It makes me question allowing anyone 80 or over live alone in so isolated a setting….no matter how much he/she demands to. |
Oh JFC. We are not taking the autonomy of competent adults because of a bizarre, isolated incident that we actually know almost nothing about. But applying your logic, Savanna’s wealth caused it so only the wealthy should be forced into living in whatever arrangement YOU think is suitable. |
