Political Discussion
The idea that gender is a guess completely unliked to biological reality is quasi religious nonsense with no place in a classroom. It is exactly the same as creationism - a belief system to be taught at home. |
Doesn't MD and other states have a few weeks during school year when they cover topics that fall under sex education? Parents probably can opt their kid out of that instruction. So, just give families a choice to opt out their kids from reading certain books if this is such a big deal. Parents are also given the choice to opt their kid out of holiday themed school classroom parties where students who don't participate in festivities are placed in another supervised room while the rest of the students participate in Halloween parties etc.. |
DP. You’ve been opining this whole time without knowing what’s been taught??? You need to read the SCOTUS decision, with particular attention to the discussion of the guidance that teachers were given on how to respond to questions. |
Why would you assume “that’s what’s happening?” Are you completely avoiding the news and what SCOTUS ruled on? |
The opt out is literally what Maryland rejected and was taken to court over, as was their decision to inject gender theory into ALL areas of instruction not just specific dates (so parents couldn’t pull their kids out in advance). |
But that is where you are wrong. When schools shut down during the pandemic and we, as parents, got to see what was being taught to our children through the diabolical Zoom school, we were in the classroom. And many parents were rightfully horrified, realizing it was worse than we even imagined. |
Anyone should be able to serve in the military -- doesn't matter what their gender identity belief is....it is your biological sex (male or female) that matters. I think removing trans from the military is wrong...akin to removing anyone based on religion. Same with sports...doesn't matter what your gender identity belief is...it is your biological sex (male or female) that matters. All IDs...passports, etc. should reflect biological sex gender and not gender identity belief. You are either a biological male, female or interex (very rare). Nobody cares about your "feeling" or "soul" - it is and should be irrelevant...although all "feelings" should be respected and protected from discrimination....all gender identity "feelings" should be taught as equal...like all religions should be respected so should all gender identity beliefs. |
Absolutely not. It is not the place of public schools to teach religious concepts like “all gender identity feelings are equal.” Stick to math, phonics and science. Leave the rest to the parents. |
I agree -- it's all or nothing. You either teach all religious concepts or teach none. I wholeheartedly believe in the separation of church and state. Gender identity should not be taught in schools. Stick to biological sex ed and that's it -- and even that has the option for opting out in many schools. |
Some republicans see its the difference between equal rights and special rights. The trans stuff especially smacks of special rights. |
What I meant is that we should teach our children that different gender identity beliefs exist and that these different gender identity beliefs should be respected. Just as we should teach our children that different religions exist and that these different religions should be respected. But only at that high level. Anything more detailed should be left to parents. But neither specific gender identity beliefs nor religious beliefs should be taught in schools. This is so common sense and yet we are now living in a world where both extremes are pushing their beliefs in schools....both sides need to cut it out! But the side that started it first is why we now have schools wanting to post the 10 commandments -- also wrong IMHO. |
Gender dysphoria is a mental illness associated with higher rates of depression and suicide. The military routinely excludes mentally ill people from service. |
I know what's happening in my child's classroom. Im involved and friends with my child's teacher. I cant assume what's going on that making all the homophobic freak out. Logic is to say it's your personal beliefs making your anxiety run wild, but again, I cant assume. |
It's not homophobic to believe that you are born either a boy or girl based on your biological sex. It's not homophobic to disagree with those who believe you are born with no gender identity. It is homophobic if you don't allow your child to play with or be friends with someone who is trans and believes you are born with no gender identity. |
| The anti-trans arguments remind me of the anti-gay marriage arguments from the early 2000s. At the time Rs claimed gay marriage would affect straight marriage. How? Who knows. Similarly I’m now told trans women have a negative impact on me, a cis woman. Again, no idea how someone else changing their own body affects me or my children. |
