If you're not interested move along - this is for those of us who are interested for whatever reason.

We are all trying to keep it infrequent for now. Like once a month maybe? Maybe twice a month but not more than that.
If we abuse it, that will be the end.
Just take a sick day. We have plenty of those.

There are rules about when you can use sick leave, you actually have to be ill, have a medical appointment, or taking care of an ill family member. Abuse of your sick leave is grounds for discipline. I have found sec management is trying to be fair about the changes, and. I for one would not want to see the little things we get taken away. My spouse works another agency and it is way worse there.

Just stop. There is no test to see if you’re sick. It’s YOUR accrued leave and yes you can use it. No manager is going to question if you’re sick given it’s a legal risk. Questioning if someone is sick when they take sick leave is a huge no no, and guess what, mental health issues count as a sickness.

Huh? Those rules kick in if someone is out on some kind of extended leave. Do you really think any manager is gonna follow up to ask what was wrong with you? No bc they don’t want to go there for privacy and maturity reasons and pragmatically no one wants to hear about anyone’s period cramps or the mucus they were coughing up. And YMMV but mental health is health so if I need a day to recharge - shrug I’m taking it.

I mean it’s been less than 3 wks and multiple ppl with little kids have been out multiple times already - I understand it - kids have days off school, they get sick etc.

I’ve been around long enough to know that being in the office does not mean everyone is more productive. Who else remembers:

I don't know why people keep saying we have a ton of sick leave. We accrue one day a month. You can blow through that and your saved up hours quite quickly if we are required to take the whole day off for a one hour doc appointment. My kids get sick for like 5 days each time so that is 5 months of accrued sick leave gone. Then maybe another kid gets it. Then doc appointment for various things. You get the picture.

You can also use regular leave, which we accrue more quickly. You also can earn credit hours, although credit hours earned outside the office might be frowned upon without a good reason.

Many agencies do not allow credit hours.

So I’m confused. How many days of telework are allowed now? Two a month? Then why not just make that the official POLICY??? This is so stupid.

I predict that in the future, there will be an informal “policy” that’s pretty similar to the pre Covid official policy.

It will be this everywhere in a year.

Their hands are tied. Executive order said no regular telework and arguably no situational. Anything in writing will be scrutinized. They are stuck. We are stuck. For now.

Let’s hope the departures coupled with the outpouring of misery makes Atkins realize he can’t get his agenda done without pockets of staff at different times working way more than 50 hours per week.

It is not an order. It is a memo.

MUs hands were not tied. Sorry, the EO cannot abrogate a contract. What he did was unlawful and unnecessary, end of story.

They’re treating us like babies that can’t be trusted. Do you expect us to gush over how they’re punishing us out of pettiness and spite? Or what, we should prostrate ourselves in humble gratitude for a shitty work environment with steadily eroding pay and benefits? It’s hilarious how people like you think we should all accept crumbs and be thankful for it.
