I could see Yorktown, Lake Braddock, or Madison on the other side (with WestPo and Langley being longer shots). Any of those three could beat Battlefield or Patriot on the right day.

I agree. It's gone from one team as a heavy favorite, to 5-6 teams who could win it all. The funky VHSL seeding for states means Patriot and Battlefield just need to beat the other mano-y-mano on one day in June to make the finals, while the Region C-D half is a battle royale that could go a number of ways. Should be a great tournament now.

A/B side is so much weaker - Battlefield will only have to play 1 game (finals) against C/D teams Yorktown/LB/Madison/WestPo/Langley while those teams have to battle to get through each other... Patriot game will be 4th time meeting and only real test before state final..

Patriot game in State semis should be 5th meeting with Battlefield. Twice in the regular season, once in districts, once in regionals, and then the State semis.

Region A is so bad this year they really shouldn't get to send two teams to States.

Biggest upset/choke job since…?

It was an upset but not choke job. LB is a solid team, not deep but they have some superb outside shooters. Robo didn't play their best at times but came back and had a few chances to tie at the end of the game. Worst referees seen this year - WALAO should review the game film and suspend these refs from any further postseason games. Good luck to LB in future games.

I call BS. Robinson has been getting home cooking from refs in all sports for years. Sounds like they just had an unbiased crew on hand that didn't put up with their antics for once and the lambs couldn't handle it.
Where you there? Does the unbiased ref fistbump and chat it up with the visiting team during the game and go to their sideline for water at breaks between quarters? Fastbreaks were stopped twice because ref blew "inadvertent whistle" for mistaking an offsides call while clear offsides (players jumping, yelling to point it out) are overlooked - how hard is it to count to 4? After TO called with possession on the defensive side, team takes possession of ball 10 yards across midline preventing any ride from taking place? Slashing penalty without slashing for one team while a brush is called a slash. Delay of game without delay of game penalty. Teams and fans expect competent refs especially during playoffs. Good luck to all teams still in it.

I noticed that Robinson Boys were removed from the back of the end zone as they were assembling to do their prefame ritual: warm up, stretch, raise their American flag and Ram Flag, hoot and holler while the Girls game (Robinson vs. West Springfield) were still playing their Region Semifinal game. Robinson players were NOT happy to be told to move outside of the track until the girls game was over.
They could be heard cussing and swearing, voicing their displeasure.
An interruption to their pregame routine, perhaps got them out of focus for their game? Mental focus, or lack thereof, is huge. Did it throw Robinson Boys off a little?

Not a sermon, just a thought.

The officiating errors stated above are accurate and primarily from the same official who did not have a great night. That being said, Lake Braddock came to play and got contributions from more than the usual suspects. They took it to Robinson and made Robinson play catch up and ultimately came up a goal short. Robinson looked the role of a great team throughout the season, but great teams are able to overcome adversiity whether from officiating or other factors. Congrats to LB on making the program relevant again. The Rams graduate a lot of top level talent, but the cupboard isn't bare and I'm sure they will be in the mix again next year. Look forward to seeing how the next two weeks play out.

I thought baby lambs go bah not wah! Sounds like excuses and sour grapes. The boys weren’t ready to play and their heads got too big. Face it. Plenty of calls have gone Robinson’s way over the years.

Was that before or after LB boys walked onto the field behind the cage during the girls game?

It's public high school boys lacrosse. It's not that important in the grand scheme of things.

They can blame their AD for that. HS rules are clear, no net behind the goal, no assembly behind the goal. Kid got killed in CA 4-5 years ago on an errant shot while playing behind the goal during a game. If they’ve been doing it before, they’ve been in violation for a while as I don’t recall a net back there. That would have to be on their Administration, AD and coaches, if they’ve been allowing it. Sounds like playoff officials actually knew the rule if coaches and AD didn’t, the school has some bigger questions to answer and some personnel decisions to make, as safety has to be a top concern.

Robinson did not lose because their pregame ritual got slightly modified. LB outplayed them. Robinson is probably the better team overall but LB stepped up at the right time. Those are the breaks.

An outrage. Definitely send a letter to the new super.
