I noticed that Robinson Boys were removed from the back of the end zone as they were assembling to do their prefame ritual: warm up, stretch, raise their American flag and Ram Flag, hoot and holler while the Girls game (Robinson vs. West Springfield) were still playing their Region Semifinal game. Robinson players were NOT happy to be told to move outside of the track until the girls game was over. They could be heard cussing and swearing, voicing their displeasure. An interruption to their pregame routine, perhaps got them out of focus for their game? Mental focus, or lack thereof, is huge. Did it throw Robinson Boys off a little? Not a sermon, just a thought.
They can blame their AD for that. HS rules are clear, no net behind the goal, no assembly behind the goal. Kid got killed in CA 4-5 years ago on an errant shot while playing behind the goal during a game. If they’ve been doing it before, they’ve been in violation for a while as I don’t recall a net back there. That would have to be on their Administration, AD and coaches, if they’ve been allowing it. Sounds like playoff officials actually knew the rule if coaches and AD didn’t, the school has some bigger questions to answer and some personnel decisions to make, as safety has to be a top concern.
An outrage. Definitely send a letter to the new super.
