Black people can say it
White people cant
Because white people use it as a tool of dehumanization and there’s no other way white people can use it

That’s not complicated

So how do you explain white fans of rap music, singing/rapping along with the vile lyrics? Do you blame the fan... or, you know, the WRITER AND PERFORMER OF THE LYRICS?

Look, I think this stupid girl should not have been forced to withdraw from college but you are such a racist dumba55. You blame the fan (and the fan’s stupid parents for not teaching her better.)

you just don’t necessarily have to kick her out of school 4 years later.

Nope. The “racist dumba55” is the moron (you) who can’t bring him or herself to call out rappers who use this vile language in the first place - in addition to explicit language meant to denigrate women and girls. Nothing you say will ever be taken seriously until you start publicly condemning the source of this garbage.

Hint: some clueless 15 yr. old white girl is merely the symptom. Stop being hypocrite and ignoring the root cause.

Yeah that 15 year old is the victim. She can’t control what she says or does.

Never said she was a “victim,” but nice spin.

Oh you like the word clueless better.

Alright then...yeah, that 15 year old is clueless. She can’t control what she says or does.

Sorry, no 15 year old in the age of the internet and YouTube is clueless to this word and it's impact

She said it in a private video referring to herself; not using it as a slur. I think she knew she was being transgressive, but I think it's unfair to say that she was some kind of KKK monster. Like it or not, the ubiquitous use of the n-word by rappers/hip hop artists absolutely dilutes the notion that it's a bad bad bad word that should never ever be spoken.

Exactly this. She shouldn’t have said it, but no way will I jump on the condemnation bandwagon until EVERYONE who uses that word is condemned. And that goes for black people and rappers.

You’re right, it is almost 2021. When are you going to start calling out rappers? Ever? Or do they get a pass for some reason?

So to be clear, it is rappers fault your child throws out the n word and every other vulgar word. Your child cannot help what comes out of their mouth. In that same manner, video games and tv are to blame for your child crashing cars, stealing, drinking, cheating and everything else they might do, correct?

Sorry, what? That’s quite a leap, but not unexpected from someone who truly seems unhinged. My kids don’t do any of the above (do yours?). And if they did, of course it would be their fault. But it’s amusing that you so freely condemn some white kid for using the n-word but are perfectly fine with rappers using that and other vile words. No hypocrisy there at all.

Nope trying to blame rappers for what comes out of kids mouth is a leap. The issue isn’t rappers unless they are making kids say the n word. Are kids unable to control what comes out of their mouth or what they do?

Still waiting for you to condemn rappers, their use of the n-word, and their denigration of women. But you refuse to, which means you support them. What a great parent you must be.

Still waiting for you to acknowledge that kids have control over what comes out of their mouths. But you refuse to, which means you support sh*tty parenting and blaming everyone else.

The rappers shouldn't be saying it either. But they started off poor and uneducated and they don't realize how crazy it is to call themselves the same dehumanizing slurs that were hurled at their relatives for so long. Alas, people have free will and we can't get them to wrap thier head around how stupid it is, any more than white people can get rednecks to stop marrying thier cousins. But everyone on DCUM is civilized enough to understand why the word shouldn't be said.

So millionaire rappers are too stupid and uneducated to know not to use the word, but 15 year old white girls are smart enough to know better? I don’t think your argument is as woke as you think it is

+1
As always, black people are expected to be given a pass - black millionaire rappers, natch - but white teenagers have no excuse. What a crock. No one should be saying this word, period.

You’ll note the incident happened in 2016.

But grown adults are sitting here in 2021 saying rap is to blame. STUPID. I teach kids. All the kids know if you’re white you better not sing the n word in a rap song. They KNOW this. She knew better when she did it but she gets a pass because she’s white and DCUM would rather blame scary black rappers .

Was that really common knowledge in 2016? Do 15 year olds make mistakes, especially in what they think are private conversations over Snapchat? Is it that hard to imagine a young girl repeating language she hears in the music she listens to, especially a few years ago compared to today? She was not intending it to be a slur. Is it really something that should keep her from attending college?

Yes.

Nope. And anyone saying otherwise needs to examine whether they themselves listen to rap music and enjoy all the ugliness it represents.

So you’re defending rappers? You know, the people who denigrate women in their lyrics? Good to know.

Like you probably defend 45? Good to know.

Do I though? What on earth does Trump have to do with this discussion? Grow up.

Some women affectionately call each other "bitches." If I were a man, I would not use that word, no matter whether I've heard it liberally used by women.

I see a lot of whining about using the n word on this thread from conservative, white, older suburbanites. That you are defensive and triggered by the notion that you can't use a word that is a racial epithet when it leaves your lips is a testament to your privilege, and the lack of introspection that goes along with it. And while I'm a VA native, I'm so glad I'm not raising my kids anywhere near Loudon County.

You seem confused. Not one person on this thread has expressed any desire to use the n-word - quite the contrary, in fact. It’s been stated over and over what a vile word it is. Additionally, it’s been pointed out the that millionaire rappers many idolize are saying not only the n-word, but also terrible slurs against women - yet none of you will condemn them for it. Instead, you’d rather use a 15 yr. old white girl as your boogeyman. Knock yourself out. The sane among us recognize how utterly unhinged you’d have to be to publicly condemn her for a stupid mistake, yet make no mention of the hideous rap culture she was drawing from. We see you.

They're deflecting! Nice job parents. Funny you never read stories about us Asian Americans having trouble not saying this word, even at young ages. I'm not suggesting there are not racist Asian Americans. The whole TJ issue has shown us there are, but our kids never find themselves just casually throwing out the n-word.

Really? Are you sure you want to go there? Plenty of YouTube videos will prove you and your sanctimonious post to be flat-out wrong.

This white woman agress with you. That is exactly who is defending and whining. They want to say the word so bad. How dare they not be allowed to do something. They've never been told "no" in their lives.

Except that everyone here is saying what an ugly word it is and that we have no desire to say it, ever. I also have no desire to hear it, which is why rap music isn’t allowed in our house. I’m sure you enjoy it, though.

They just get away with it because they aren’t so crass as to say the N word. The majority of this thread is crapping on the Black boy and claiming his future is or should be ruined. Telling on themselves.

Thank you.

I mean...if he’s looking to enter white-man-dominated corporate America, sure maybe. But there are plenty of opportunities out there for what many will call “bleeding heart liberal” jobs. If this kid is smart, he’ll find his people and fit right in. He certainly knows how to strategize and play the long-game. He’ll be fine.

Yeah, because Vanguard University consistently attracts the best and the brightest, right? You can tell from his You Tube channel that he's a vapid kid looking to become a "social influencer." Best case scenario is he gets a job at a California theme park.

You are vile and disgusting the way you are going at this kid. He did speak up and was ignored. You are a loser. I swear I know you. Live in Loudoun?

Because he’s a vindictive little sociopath, and probably misogynistic to boot.
