+1. This thread is so tiring. Let it go. Bullis seems like a great school and their enrollment is full so seems like a lot of satisfied families.

What makes it seem like a great school to you? The bad reputation it can't shake (why would that be?), the corruption of the Head and the Trustees, the fact that it only reached enrollment because it promised to to be in person, the scandals that made the news regarding the lacrosse and football coaches, the racist incident that also made the press, and on and on. Yes, seems like a great school.

+1

And enrollment is obviously not full as evidenced by the giant splash page when you click on their website. There's a quick link to apply.

High school is full. My kid is in MCPS and they were not taking any HS applicants for this school year.

Try applying to high school grades and many other grades and you’ll find out very quickly how full they are.

I do think this thread has run its course and accomplished as much as it could. At this point, it seems to me that it is completely in the hands of Bullis families if they want to rally up enough support to force an independent, outside governance review of the board, including an audit of the last several years. From what I know of the Caulfield board, he is unlikely to step down voluntarily, so it really is going to take some effort on the part of the Bullis community. Good luck, folks.

Anonymous wrote:The bond document said it was for funding the Discovery Center building and a turf field. The justification was the anticipated increase in enrollment that would include an anticipated 36 additional teachers, 14 of which would reside in Montgomery County. In 2015, when this bond document was created there were 650 students of which 115 lived in VA and DC.

Elsewhere they stated they raised 100% of the funds for the DC building via donors. So which one is correct?

It's all laid out in the bond approval which is linked from the article: http://montgomerycountymd.granicus.com/MetaViewer.php?view_id=6&clip_id=10120&meta_id=87607

Did they actually collect any donations for the 27 million building? If yes, how much?

If they did not, it seems they were misleading the public and school community claiming donors covered all costs when actually the bond covered all construction costs? Why was the bond request 38 million if the building was only 27?

The people that are paying tuition and making the donations need to ask the questions of the Board. If they don't or the Board won't answer, you can stay and or vote with your feet.

Fraud is a crime, so why would anyone expect an honest answer from the board? They were part of the corruption that was the HOS and his mistress.

As a Bullis parent during the time of the fraud and corruption who was paying full tuition and forgoing things like fancy trips to Italy to afford it, I'd like to see some sort of restitution from those who benefited.

Have you even though about what you are posting before you post it? You are not forgoing fancy things like trips to Italy. You are choosing to spend your money on private school. You choose to pay the tuition and how they spend it is their choice (even if they are wrong).

The board should be terminated too.

Wrong. The mom paying tuition wasn’t paying for some horn dog hos to fund his affair.

That said, this mom should have picked up on the blatant sh*t. You had your blinders on. It’s a snotty country club school.

Agree, Bullis is the worst. Only reason to go there is because you are recruited or receive a scholarship. Most others go because they couldn’t get in elsewhere or live and Potomac.

The school will take a decade to recover from this.

Teachers aren't happy and how can you retain or even attract talent to want to teach under this type of leadership.

While Bullis will always attract some full-pay Potomac / Bethesda / Rockville families who are looking to an alternative to current public, I think its hit a tipping point now where parents will really wonder if its worth it.

Bullis was always known as, "the Public School that you pay for" . It even looks like a Public School- short squat red brick buildings randomly plopped down in a neighborhood - not of stately homes- but of McMansions

That being said, it served it's purpose which was to be a place you could go if your kid couldn't hack the academics at STA or Sidwell, you aren't high profile VIP/ development case enough for Maret .... not Diverse enough for GDS and Landon said " No"

The problem is the HOS and some members of the Board have betrayed our noblis oblige in allowing them to stay open despite recruiting BY some serious apparent diversion of funds and definite miss treatment of Teachers, many of whom have spouses who teach at STA, Sidwell, Maret...

you get the picture
