How can anyone believe in god when there's so much evil in the world?

God created "the devil" and thus created evil.

Unless you're saying God is not all knowing or all powerful?

Or you're saying that The Devil is a God, and believe in a polytheistic system?

God created “the devil?” God created Lucifer as an angel, his most favored and beloved angel.

As with Adam and Eve, Lucifer was not content to be as he was created. He wanted to be God. He rebelled against God and was cast out of heaven.

Lucifer is jealous that God loves humans and tries to destroy us.

But Jesus has already claimed victory and Satan will be soon driven from his place and punished.

Satan’s “victory” is temporary.

Did God not know this was going to happen, when God created Lucifer? Is God not all knowing?

Does anybody have a response to this? Is there a Biblical answer? Did God know this was going to happen, before creating Lucifer?

Sorry, buy I'm not watching an hour long youtube video. Can you summarize?

Can anyone of any faith offer an explanation of whether God knew what was going to happen to Lucifer/Satan/Shaytan/etc? And how this pertains to God being an all-knowing being?

Genesis 3, all is well, it seems. Genesis 1:31 says, “God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.” God did not create anything evil. It was all very good.

Then, suddenly when chapter three opens, there is this serpent. And he is clearly evil. He is calling God’s word into question. Genesis 3:1: “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” He is devious and deceitful and destructive. God had said in Genesis 2:17, “The day that you eat of [this tree] you shall surely die.” But the serpent says in Genesis 3:4: “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Therefore, Jesus says of him in John 8:44 that he is both a liar and murderer:

He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Are you talking about God?

Maybe I'm missing something, because it sounds like yes, God knew all this was going to happen, and made it unfold anyway. Therefore murder, evil, lies, etc are all characteristic of God, just as much as goodness and love. That makes much more sense.

You are on Religion forum. You present yourself as a curious person that thinks and reads a lot. Can you show some decency and stop offending God in front of believers? It is highly offensive. If you cannot restrain yourself please go to atheist forums that were suggested to you. Insults are common and welcome there.

For crying out loud, it's an honest question. Don't assume the worst in people who ask questions. If you can't respond, then don't.

I followed the thread from the start. The pp is not satisfied with any learning material we provide him with. His goal is not to learn. His goal is to discredit the Christianity. It's also a form of mental masturbation to be going around in circles. He has proven that after 20+ pages. If I wanted to learn about Hindusim I would read/listen to materials that Hinduu believers would supply.

I am a she, not a he.

I asked about feedback from all religions with regards to this question, not just Christianity. I'm sorry you have trouble trusting people who have sincere questions.

You may be curious. You may read a lot. You may be fascinated with religions. You may be all the things you say you are. But you are not honest. If you were honest you would methodically study the materials you were provided and than make a judgment as an intellectually honest person. Instead you gloss over learning materials and ask people to summarize them for you while continuing to insult God.

Ad hominem again, only from the believer side.

This is a discussion forum, open for every opinion.

As for "insulting" god, you cannot insult that which you do not believe exists. Can you "insult" Odin? Can you "insult" leprechauns?

Thank you for the explanation. I understand this with regards to "free will," but what about suffering without choice? Disease? Children getting cancer? Natural disasters (while intensified due to humans and climate change, always existed to a degree). Is God also the God of disease and pain, as well as health? Drought and starvation, as well as vitality and bounty? Why or why not?

It's all part of allowing sin into the world. When God made a perfect world and gave it to Adam, Adam turned around and gave dominion of it to Satan. God could not allow Satan to inherit a perfect world, and so it was cursed. Death, disease, disaster, all that followed. If you focus on that, you are left with nihilistic despair. But Jesus says, "Take heart! I have overcome the world!" The LORD has prepared a perfect place that we can enjoy forever with no disease, death, suffering, nothing but eternal joy in the presence of our creator and savior. We get there by faith in Jesus Christ. It's not hard, but you have to put aside your pride and confess your sins to Him. Imagine if God just let everyone in, regardless of whether they confessed their sins, regardless of whether they put their trust in Christ. You'd end up with the same thing we have here. Put your trust in Christ, and he will cleanse you from your sins, provide the Holy Spirit to help you live a more and more holy life (but with effort) and eventually raise you into perfection with Him when He has given the world enough time to repent. It's really not a hard story. If you truly despise evil in the world, turn your life to the LORD, who will put an end to all the suffering that has been wrought at man's rejection of God.

I think any God who created the human brain, would not find questions about them insulting. That goes for any God, not just the Christian God.

I am familiar with people like you. At my MBA school I had colleagues who would piggy back on others' intellectual efforts and work while simultaneously criticizing and insulting everything and everyone without sound intellectual basis. It mostly stemmed from their intellectual laziness and deep dissatisfaction about the same laziness.

Because every religion is about 20% primary source, 80% human interpretation and filter. I don't care about the text - I'm interested in how humans explain things. That's much more interesting to me, and relevant to the world we live in. Call it the inner anthropologist in me.

Many people here are extremely well versed in holy texts and chit chatting lazily over things while glossing over important details and context is not our way.

Why can't you summarize them? Why is that difficult?

I think any God who created the human brain, would not find questions about them insulting. That goes for any God, not just the Christian God.

You could do your own research. Your brain is good, too. Why depend on others to bring you info?

Because every religion is about 20% primary source, 80% human interpretation and filter. I don't care about the text - I'm interested in how humans explain things. That's much more interesting to me, and relevant to the world we live in. Call it the inner anthropologist in me.

Go chat leisurely with a programmer about Python. He won't appreciate it. Nothing is an interpretation. Those that are true to something study it in depth. Only lazy people gloss over and want to chit chat. You might be on a wrong forum. Many people here are extremely well versed in holy texts and chit chatting lazily over things while glossing over important details and context is not our way.

Ok, you can't/don't want to provide a summary. I'd love to hear what others say, however.

I won't. Because your intent is not to learn and understand. Your intent is to gain entertainment.

Excuse me? Are you God? Who on earth are you to overwrite the intent of others, proclaiming you know better?

The “I am so open-minded and want to learn” spiel is old.

There’s tons of resources to learn about Christianity on the net.

If you truly want to learn you don’t need my opinion.

Not pp, but the Christians here aren’t slaves to provide information or actors to provide entertainment to others.
