I hope that all of this is making other schools (like our DC's) take a look at how they vet teachers and staff -- and sort out their policies for what to do if a pedophile sneaks through the screening.

I once had to go through training on how to spot sex abuse, and the first thing you learn is not to be suprised that pedophiles work at churches and schools and hang out at parks. Where else would they be?

PP, I'm with you on the criticism of the idiotic poster. But your response does seem to suggest that a white man does not fit the profile of a pedophile. I know this is not what you intended. If anything, I think statistically speaking pedophiles, like serial killers, are more often white.

This so called "molester" is my brother. I just got a call from my mother 2 hours ago upset how no one has seen my brother in weeks because of this crap.

You rich people think you can manipulate everything and get your way. If there were photos or evidence why hasn't it been surfaced? Ask any parent of his students, they all loved him. I can't comment on whether he played favorites, but every teacher I've ever had has played favorites. You think you're precious private school would be any different?

I'm just so shocked that nothing has been proven if there's such evidence. I'm worried because my brother probably feels like he has to hide because of all this going on, because a couple rich kids parents probably got upset about something completely unrelated and tried pinning something on him.

You people need to just mind your own damn business and go back to your shopping sprees and vacations. My brother was loved at that school, every student he ever tutored, or had in a mentor like role.

I have no way of telling for sure, but the same individual emailed me off line (though using a fake email address), and included a couple of additional details that make me think the message is legit. The irony is that, in my experience, the teacher's biggest defenders are "rich" Beauvoir parents (or at least they are the most adamant about the presumption of innocence). So, the poster's anger is a bit misplaced.

The Beauvoir Scandal thread veers off on yet another tangent. This seems to be the hottest summer read for so many of you (us). The cliffhanger for the day is whether the above is pure fiction, or based on fact, and whether there is a ghostwriter involved. Whatever the source, it does seem anger driven, and a clumsy attempt at getting the other side of the story out there. Let us hope we hear something soon from the police and prosecutors.

I am in no way accusing this teacher of anything, I would, however, like to know why he feels the need to hide? If he has nothing to hide and has done nothing wrong why not go to the police and speak to them?

As a former Beauvoir teacher, I have been reading this because all my friends called me once this situation hit the papers...I'm not a DC mom nor a parent but have worked at the school and I have held my tongue until I read this post. While I left for reasons regarding the associate teacher program (and, ironically enough, right before this person began so I cannot speak for his "mentoring ability" or how much he was "loved by his students") but I can to speak about the parents I met during my tenure and I will say that they are not ones who have their own agendas, nor do they "manipulate" things in order to get rid of people.

I had the best of experiences with the parents I met--incredibly generous, concerned, and trusting (and I am still in contact with many of them to this day). They may have high expectations, but considering they are the consumer (and this is also true in public school--so it has nothing to do with the price) they have a right to want answers and for their children to be safe. That is the right of anyone going into the education system--and it's my job to provide that for them. (And just so you know, there are scholarship families that do attend this school, so it is insulting to say that it was because "rich kid parents" got upset and created this situation.) It has to do with pictures being found that were inappropriate, not the family income level. It's unfortunate that this situation happened (whatever the specifics) but I agree with many previous posters. If there was nothing wrong, then there was no reason for your brother to leave nor stay away from his family. If you feel this situation isn't something that is fair or just, you should encourage him to set the record straight, rather than just post on some blog.

Their were posed photographs of little boys genetalia on a camera assigned to him. It may well have been a bug in the software that just randomly created these images, but it is naive to not believe that the presence of these pictures on his camera would concern people. The presence of such pictures would inspire a lot of post mortems, and the post mortems do not look so great.

We can speculate all day long. Why dont we just wait and see how this plays out. He is gone...if he did do something wrong there isnt anything more that can be done to protect the students. If he didnt do something wrong, I think everyone crucifying him will need to have a big piece of crow pie and write an apology to the teacher and his family. But how likely is an apology to happen?

Bottom line is this...we are not the judge and jury. The police will sort it out and the judicial system will do it's job if it comes to that. Obviously people that know and like him are reading this...and so is his family. So let us just stop all of the taunting and such. There is no need to cause further anguish is there?
