The “lefties” have never given a thought to a Cracker Barrel in the last 30 years. It’s a rural chain, and even when traveling most urban consumers are stopping at a Panera or Starbucks. There was no movement to change the logo, this was a corporate decision to update for a new market. Like KFC vs Kentucky Fried Chicken for instance. I don’t even know why this is political. But I grew up in the south, have eaten at Cracker Barrel often, and I certainly thought it meant “cracker” — lots of southerns self identify as one at least in my part of Georgia. |
I am aware of that from the news, but until the brouhaha, I doubt it was widely known. It’s not like you see any crackers of the saltine variety in the illustration! |
The new logo would have stood out better on the highway, especially at night. Sharper colors. The point is to grab the attention of hungry and tired drivers on the interstates. You know, that thing we all like-- making money. |
The colors were the same, not sharper. Changing the logo would have made it less familiar and distinctive from other generic logos for those who knew it, and would have provided no context on what type of restaurant it might be to those who are unfamiliar with it. The old man resting on his chair conveys that it is something different from impersonal fast food. |

Let's hire David Hogg to run Cracker Barrel long term. Oh....wait.... |
Still waiting, and still no proof. This wasn't political and had nothing to do with "the left." Someone in Cracker Barrel corporate wanted "new" and they came up with this schlocky new logo which nobody liked (including the left) and the deranged right wing (as usual) fabricated yet another imaginary grievance to blame the left wing for. I am so f'ing tired of the right wing and their constant whining over imaginary grievances. No, I will not validate their mental illness. |
That's what makes it funny. |

LOL just reread the DCUM political threads, and you'll see who's whining from sunup til sundown and through the night. |
What do you mean? I hopped on this thread a few times over the last few days, and never did I see any liberals promoting or defending the logo change. If there was, I missed it (so it certainly wasn't "sunup til sundown" as you claim) and it was probably only one random weirdo. And I've come to find that often the one random weirdo on DCUM defending the supposedly "liberal" position doesn't make much sense and sounds a lot more like a right wing caricature of a liberal than any actual liberal I've ever met. Hint: Not everyone posting on DCUM is what they pretend to be. |
I didn't mean they were whining about Cracker Barrel, but they certainly do whine abour other topics. |
So randos, with irrelevant non-sequiturs. My point stands, this Cracker Barrel logo BS has nothing to do with liberal politics. |
