I can guarantee there was an expensive consultant behind the logo change

+1 Exactly. That CEO couldn't be more out of touch with her customers.

The CEO needs new customers. The boomers who are his current base are literally dying off, helped along by his food.

Chains with an identifiable person are like KFC and Wendy, which are their founders and almost cartoons.

And let’s be honest, I’m sure many potential customers thought the old guy was supposed to be a “cracker” — I mean you see a man next to a barrel and it’s called Cracker Barrel. I know what a barrel is, and most people have never heard of a soda Cracker Barrel.

In old times country stores sold a lot of bulk goods by weight or volume, including saltine-type soda crackers, which came in barrels and people would hang out by the barrel to chat like the office water cooler.

Let's be honest. You lefties tried and failed. Newer is NOT always better.

The “lefties” have never given a thought to a Cracker Barrel in the last 30 years. It’s a rural chain, and even when traveling most urban consumers are stopping at a Panera or Starbucks. There was no movement to change the logo, this was a corporate decision to update for a new market. Like KFC vs Kentucky Fried Chicken for instance.

I don’t even know why this is political. But I grew up in the south, have eaten at Cracker Barrel often, and I certainly thought it meant “cracker” — lots of southerns self identify as one at least in my part of Georgia.

I am aware of that from the news, but until the brouhaha, I doubt it was widely known. It’s not like you see any crackers of the saltine variety in the illustration!

What the hell does any of this have to do with "Democrats?" This was corporate, not political. They were following a stupid, outdated trend of minimalism for style, not understanding that most people don't like it and already rejected it years ago. What "Dem" told them to do this?

The new logo would have stood out better on the highway, especially at night. Sharper colors. The point is to grab the attention of hungry and tired drivers on the interstates. You know, that thing we all like-- making money.

The colors were the same, not sharper. Changing the logo would have made it less familiar and distinctive from other generic logos for those who knew it, and would have provided no context on what type of restaurant it might be to those who are unfamiliar with it. The old man resting on his chair conveys that it is something different from impersonal fast food.

Let's hire David Hogg to run Cracker Barrel long term.

Oh....wait....

You think that CEO is a Trump voterr? Did you not read all the comments on this thread mocking the "typical" and "overweight MAGA" voters who eat at Cracker Barrel?

What do comments in this thread have to do with corporate decisions? Do you think the CEO of Cracker Barrel decided to change the logo because of some randos on a messageboard for DC moms?

You seem a bit unhinged. Apparently anything you don't like is the fault of "Dems." Late for work? Dems fault. Got ketchup on your pants? Dems fault. Cat climbed up a tree and won't come down? Dems fault. Some random CEO decides to go minimalistic with their logo? Dems fault.

If anyone seems unhinged, it's you. You're just making things up.

Sure, sure. I'm just making things up.

Show me your conclusive, incontrovertible evidence that the logo change was political and driven by "Dems" and that you and MAGA isn't just making it all up.

Still waiting, and still no proof.

This wasn't political and had nothing to do with "the left." Someone in Cracker Barrel corporate wanted "new" and they came up with this schlocky new logo which nobody liked (including the left) and the deranged right wing (as usual) fabricated yet another imaginary grievance to blame the left wing for.

I am so f'ing tired of the right wing and their constant whining over imaginary grievances. No, I will not validate their mental illness.

That said, I'm conservative and truly do not understand what is "woke" about the rebrand.

It's not woke, but I do think utterly boring and bland.

+1. And stripped of its Tennessee, old-timey country feel--its roots--in exchange for a generic look that the CEO breezily promotes in her interviews.

You mean she might want to get new customers? I have never been to a Cracker Barrel and I’m sure there are plenty of other people like me.

And I'll bet you probably still won't visit one.

+ 1 nillion!

LOL just reread the DCUM political threads, and you'll see who's whining from sunup til sundown and through the night.

What do you mean?

I hopped on this thread a few times over the last few days, and never did I see any liberals promoting or defending the logo change. If there was, I missed it (so it certainly wasn't "sunup til sundown" as you claim) and it was probably only one random weirdo.

And I've come to find that often the one random weirdo on DCUM defending the supposedly "liberal" position doesn't make much sense and sounds a lot more like a right wing caricature of a liberal than any actual liberal I've ever met. Hint: Not everyone posting on DCUM is what they pretend to be.

So randos, with irrelevant non-sequiturs. My point stands, this Cracker Barrel logo BS has nothing to do with liberal politics.
