I think you misunderstand, or maybe I miscommunicated. They are absolutely allowed to like ice hockey. I may even agree with them! But using that image/sign/style that is so clearly tied to human rights and BLM is really just in poor taste, and it reflects badly on people who display it, and it diminishes their message in the end. There are so many ways to convey their message, and this way makes them look stupid and inconsiderate and at worst, it makes them look like they're disrespecting a movement by co-opting an icon. Like appropriation, in a sense. If someone is dug into conservatism or MAGA my point will go directly over their head, but *that* is my point.

Yes. Just like there is nothing inherently wrong with the idea that All Lives Matter, but it becomes stupid and pathetic when it's a knee-jerk "anti" reaction to minimize the message of Black Lives Matter.

Which sports aren't the embodiment of white privilege then? What privilege do the other sports embody?

My kid plays hockey. It doesn’t embody toxic anything. The families we have met are lovely. They are there for the families and the kids. The sport itself may not be the right one fir everybody but our hockey community at least has been nothing but positive for me and my kid.

It's hard to believe that people don't know that "love is love" refers to the right for gays to marry, but that's what it means, PP -- it's a statement of solidarity for LGBTQ people.
