+1 It is becoming increasingly apparent. Gotta love how earnest they are though. Hope they grow up before their sourpuss expresses freeze on their faces. I'm pretty much as blue as blue can be but all this harping and complaining (from the random to his sign looks like my sign) is working on my last nerve.

There's a reason some comedians have stopped doing shows on college campuses.

LOL, unfortunately you're right.

Drumpf lost fools. You'll get over it in time. You'll still be fools played by a narcissistic con man criminal, but you'll get over it.

I personally think it is violent and scary but I am willing to agree that they are allowed to like it. When you become a little less narrow-minded let us know and then we can all share conversations about things we agree with and things we don't. Right now you're not going to be able to hack it.

I think you misunderstand, or maybe I miscommunicated. They are absolutely allowed to like ice hockey. I may even agree with them! But using that image/sign/style that is so clearly tied to human rights and BLM is really just in poor taste, and it reflects badly on people who display it, and it diminishes their message in the end. There are so many ways to convey their message, and this way makes them look stupid and inconsiderate and at worst, it makes them look like they're disrespecting a movement by co-opting an icon. Like appropriation, in a sense. If someone is dug into conservatism or MAGA my point will go directly over their head, but *that* is my point.

Serious question: is this sign diminishing the “human rights/BLM” messaging by making it abundantly and absurdly clear that putting up a SIGN is worth absolutely NOTHING in terms of advancing human rights, racial equity, whatever you and your neighbors *pretend* you care about?

This sign isn’t making a mockery of any movement- it is making a mockery of YOUR ridiculous signs...

I think you’re missing the point of both signs, so I’m not sure how to respond to this.

My point is your virtue signaling BLM love lives here etc. signs are pointless. Nothing whatsoever is accomplished by you putting such a sign in your yard. The hockey sign is at least funny (making fun of you). Therefore, hockey sign wins.

Given that all white people are racist, whenever they are *not* being racist this simply means they are hiding behind a mask of non-racism, which is the most virulent form of racist behaviour.

Therefore, there is nothing more racist than a white person who isn't racist.

Enough! Let people have fun with language. It's the main thing that differentiates us from animals, or rocks.

Please tell me you’re not comparing BLM/woke left bumper sticker-like slogans to a groundbreaking speech by the preeminent civil rights figure of our time.

Don't worry, the woke mob will be destroying MLK statues in no time. They'll find some insane reason to cancel him. It's not his time yet, they're busy with other things. Just wait.

Well, to be fair, Martin Luther King had many, many #MeToo situations.

What if they have a black friend?

He was a womanizer.

You are disgusting.

Ralph David Abernathy did acknowledge in his 1989 autobiography, And the Walls Came Tumbling Down, that Martin Luther King engaged in extramarital affairs (evidence of which was sometimes recorded by the FBI through hotel room bugs)

Men of that era had affairs: John F. Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Dwight Eisenhower. MLK was simply doing what other powerful men did.

MLK was an amazing civil rights leader and had a huge positive impact on this country. He wasn't perfect though, but I think MLK still deserves to be recognized for all the great things he did. That's why I have an issue with going back to every hero and digging up some bad thing on their past and renouncing them. I'm sure just about every important figure did some bad stuff too, but let's evaluate if the good outweighs the bad.

I thought we can’t judge people based on what was normal and accepted during their time? Aren’t we supposed to judge everyone by whatever the standards of the moment are??

Have to agree. Can’t argue with that logic.

Anonymous wrote:Definitely in poor taste but I’m not surprised.

I live in a very pro-LEO area and see tons of “blue lives matter”/“all lives matter”, plus really distasteful things like “comply and don’t die” or “Save lives, Comply.”

Funny thing is they get SO triggered if you make any joke about LEO. Or use the same rhetoric against them when there’s an LEO death (“well, if he had done XYZ...”)

How is it in “poor taste?” Are you saying those ridiculous signs are somehow sacred text and how dare someone mock them? Some of you are truly unbelievable. The pious sanctimony of the left knows no bounds.

This. “Pious sanctimony” sums it up.

Only things they find funny are allowed to be laughed at. Which, in itself, makes me laugh.

This thread is amazing because it’s basically two sides saying:

“This seems mean and rude.”

and

“You’re stupid and unfunny you suck.” Which is...mean and rude.
