Sign in Bethesda about opening up ice hockey in the style of a woke yard sign.

I've driven past this sign on Montgomery Ave and the only thing I could read was "In this house we believe ice is cold". I didn't know it was about hockey and thought it was just mocking the BLM/human rights sign.
But I've now found a photo of it.

My kids play hockey. I got an email from a well-meaning parent selling these signs. I recognized that some people may view the signs as inappropriate. But that’s not why I didn’t buy one. The rink in moco was allowed to hold practices but not games. My 8-yo didn’t play a game this year at all. Lots of practice though. He should have been allowed to play a game. That’s what’s behind the signs...

Ugh. Missed a point. I didn’t buy one because my policy is to avoid controversy. But I get why the signs were made. And I get why OP is judgy about it.

Please tell me you’re not comparing BLM/woke left bumper sticker-like slogans to a groundbreaking speech by the preeminent civil rights figure of our time.

Don't worry, the woke mob will be destroying MLK statues in no time. They'll find some insane reason to cancel him. It's not his time yet, they're busy with other things. Just wait.

He was a womanizer.

You are disgusting.

DP. Are you actually claiming that MLK was not a notorious womanizer? He was certainly a civil rights hero, but you must be living under a rock to be unaware of his many infidelities. Grow up and educate yourself.

+1 It is becoming increasingly apparent. Gotta love how earnest they are though. Hope they grow up before their sourpuss expresses freeze on their faces. I'm pretty much as blue as blue can be but all this harping and complaining (from the random to his sign looks like my sign) is working on my last nerve.

There's a reason some comedians have stopped doing shows on college campuses.

LOL, unfortunately you're right.

Drumpf lost fools. You'll get over it in time. You'll still be fools played by a narcissistic con man criminal, but you'll get over it.

TDS apparently still reigns supreme ^^^. Even though this thread has nothing to do with he who shall not be named.

By any chance, was the sign accompanied by a red hat?

“This seems mean and rude.”

and

“You’re stupid and unfunny you suck.” Which is...mean and rude.

Huh. I see it as one side saying, “If you don’t virtue signal - or at least pretend you agree with virtue signaling - then you’re a racist bigot.” Which seems pretty mean and rude.

And then the other side laughing at the sheer stupidity.

Ok I haven’t read through all the posts but I’m a black woman in DC. I find this poster offensive and seriously stupid. But even more disturbing are the posts complaining about people being too woke. I hope you all realize that being woke is a word used to describe being aware of inequity around us.

I hate reading posts like this because I often wonder how many of the terrible people on here I may know in person.

And to those similarly disgusted, I respect you!

Oh, and to the argument that is woke people don’t have a sense of humor, that isn’t true. Trump and Pence and all their followers were so ridiculous it felt like a very funny spoof at times.

I recently saw this sign on a house on Rockville. I think it’s in terrible taste to create a parody of a BLM-inspired sign to complain about the very white (non) problems of the elite hockey set.

And that is exactly how many of us feel about the current administration and the “wokeness” and virtue signaling that is running amok. We are living in “Portlandia,” and while it can be hysterically funny, it’s really more disturbing than anything else.

Why does an 8 year need to play a hockey game?

My kid loves hockey as much as yours, I guarantee it. He loves his grandparents more.

I fully support this. I have been to several fights where a hockey game broke out.

What exactly is so disturbing about wokeness and what you consider virtue signaling? What exactly do you feel is more disturbing about the Biden administration than the trump administration? I've got to hear this rationale.
