I have almost 900 classes. I miss the in-studio workouts terribly (though have gotten the hang of the sliders and learned how to make the at-home classes work pretty well for me). Despite the protests of my family, I went to class this morning because I needed to experience a class before being able to make a decision about my membership. Everyone was wearing masks until one minute before class started. I considered trying class with my mask on, but I knew how much harder it would be, so I went without (like everyone else except the coach). The workout itself was still hard, and that part was great. I didn't miss the army crawls. I did note though that coaches can no longer change springs for you and although that's not a huge deal for experienced clients, I still like the personalized attention that means coaches can add springs to keep challenging you (in upper body mostly). When I walked in, I was pretty sure that even if I was uncomfortable, I'd find a way to rationalize it. But a funny thing happened halfway through. Maybe it was the sweat dripping off of me or maybe it was the fact that I heard someone cough...but I realized that I didn't feel like this was a safe space given that this virus is still very real. I am required to wear a mask in every other indoor business I go to these days, and people generally aren't breathing heavily and sweating at grocery stores and restaurants. And of course I realize we each decide how much risk to take on, etc. But I don't think I can go back, at least without wearing a mask during the workout. Sure, the measures that solidcore has taken to turn machines have made the workout a little safer, but I'm not convinced it's enough. I usually put a good workout above almost everything, but I just can't. What bugs me the most is that so many of their clients are buying it hook, line and sinker. I'll be watching closely to see if anything changes in states where COVID-19 rates are rising rapidly--will solidcore stay open in Florida?
Thank you for this honest review. I too am watching closely what happens. I don’t think I’ll be back until 2021 :(.
