If you love food and find comfort In eating, how did you lose weight?

Weightlifting 20 min 4 days a week really helped me. I moved recently and stopped lifting (still do lots of walking and jogging) and have definitely put some weight back on

Fruits? No. That's #1 reason that keeps me from losing weight right now when so many delicious fruit and berries are in season. I ate 6 apricots and 300 g of sweet cherries and that's 290 calories - calories that don't keep me full. And I would have eaten more if I lost my willpower completely. Where do you think these calories would go? They are just like any other calories.

Fruit calories relative to other calories, contain a lot of water, and fewer calories for the volume of food. 290 calories really isn't much at all. I supposed if you're an insane person eating 800 calories a day, but if you're a normal person who is active, exercises, and eats 2500 calories (1800-2000 to lose), then 290 is nothing.

As far as weightloss goes, it is calories in, calories out for the most part. But as far as health goes, the quality of the calories matter - and you should be eating lots of fruit for a wide variety of health benefits.

- lost 60lbs eating infinite amount of fruits and vegetables.

OP, I am using Noom and I really like it. I think it sounds like it might work well for you too. I agree that cutting out categories of food does not seem sustainable, and Noom is not about that. I find the articles about psychology and changing your behaviors one at a time helpful. I have lost about 10 lbs on it in 2 months by making changes that don't seem like a huge deal to me--different breakfast cereal plus yogurt in the morning, when I order bowls at lunch I get a salad base rather than rice, stuff like that. I still have a small amount of chocolate every day b/c I like it. I have stopped drinking as much wine.

Good luck!

Fruits are good for you and certainly much, much better than sweets but calories are calories.

Americans are literally the only people who are anti-fruit and think that fruit makes you fat.

Yet the American diet is one of the worst out there, with obesity on the rise, and people constantly on "diets" who somehow, can't find a normal, sustainable way to eat. Coincidence? Absolutely not.

I had great success on the latest WW program. Hit my goal a year and have been maintaining by adding in IF (though, 'dirty' and only 5 days a week).

Interestingly, I just had a work trip to Europe and decided it would be too tough to stick to any diet. I ate pretty much the exact same way my Euro colleagues did (stuff I would never normally eat!). I had wine, bread, and chocolate with EVERY dinner (and some lunches). I thought for sure I would come home with 5 extra lbs. Guess what? Didn't gain a pound. The difference? 1. I never got in a car (walked everywhere) and jogged through parks every single night. 2. Portions. They eat rich food, but just less of it.

I am 9:20. I lost eating 1550. 800 would literally leave me starving. Bodies and activity levels differ, you can’t generalize like that.

Seriousuly? 800 calories?

One chicken breast 231 calories, five cucumbers 75 calories, = 300 calories
One potato 135

So far 435.. HUGE Dinner.

Whole cauliflower - 146 calories who can even ate that much of food! still you are now at 590 roughly..

Still 200 to go!

So as you see there is TONS of food that is feeling and does not have that many calories, just mix them with those that do have calories.

Whatever has calories usually make you not hungry - things like meat or potatoes

whatever does not - fills you like crazy but does not keep for long so you mixt the two groups wisely and you are good.

9:20 here. Why are you so angry? I am sharing my experience with the OP. To me: 800 calories is starvation level. It’s 1 meal. I lost weight eating 1550 and I actually did not count the calories in cucumbers or cauliflower. Also I assume you eat everything boiled/ steamed, cause you don’t seem to count any added fat / oil / butter calories. Yum what a huge satisfying dinner a boiled chicken great with 5 cucumbers and a whole boiled / steamed cauliflower.

I prefer to eat instead a baked chicken thigh (about 160+45), baked potato with sour cream and chives (350), salad (100 for oil, don’t count the vegetables of the salad). So about 650, followed by 2 slivers of dark chocolate @50 each for dessert, bringing to a total of 750. Not counting breakfast or lunch. But I feel happier and more satisfied than if I would have eaten 5 cucumbers and a whole boiled cauliflower.

I am not an American and no longer even live in the U.S. but I generally like science. And science tells us that there are indeed calories in fruit

As for the tracking, I do it well for a few days or even weeks but then I have a string of days where I am busy, or forget, or have something that is difficult to log (recipe or food at a restaurant) and then I give up. I tend to have an all or nothing approach which I realize isn't helping... I need to reframe and not think of these slip ups as complete failure.. and just hop back on the wagon when I fall off.

I’m the 20:4 IF poster and I honestly don’t track, but I was already in keto when I started IF. I just try to keep it generally low carb, but I also live my life. I find with fasting most of the day, I think about food a lot LESS. I refused the idea for a good long while thinking it was stupid and I could never give up meals but after reading the Jason Fung books I am a total convert.

Yes, we all know you "live" you life. You eat only in 4 hours a day, god forbid your kids want you to enjoy ice cream with them outside of your eating window! I am sure you are enjoying so much life. And you post here obsessively, I mean many of us do, but rare few claim to be enjoying life while eating only small amount in a 4 hour period, and already being in keto and eating barely any carbs. Your idea of enjoying life is very messed up!

You’re f*cked in the head if you think a head of cauliflower, a piece of chicken, cucumber and a potato is a) an acceptable diet for an adult and b) a huge amount of food.

I don't think that poster said anything about calories. Relative to other foods, fruit is lower in calories but there is a whole contingent of people who don't eat it because they've been scarred by Atkins and keto and other diets that have told them that fruit is basically sugar and to stay away

Sorry, I am not sure to whom you are referring but I have posted on this thread exactly twice before this, and I’ve actually never commented on another thread on this forum about intermittent fasting. Not that I need to defend myself, because OP asked for advice and I gave it based on my experience, but I mostly only do this on weekdays and I work full time - so no, I’m not out enjoying ice cream with my kids during the day but I wouldn’t be doing that anyway most days.

Looks like we've been struck by the mom who cooks "an entire bag of spinach" for her family of 6, then questions why her husband orders pizza after dinner.

I’ve stopped constantly thinking about food and eating now that I eat less sugar and more fats. I just feel fuller.
