5 foot 2 and diet

to the people saying that the dieters are setting a bad example for the kids, phooey. My daughter has my exact same build, so I feel like it's my obligation to teach her about OUR body, not some other person's body who writes for Women's health. Sometimes fasting is a great thing to do, watching calories and intake is a way to stay healthy, eating portions that are right for other people is not right for us (we are SMALL). We don't need to eat as other people to stay healthy, we need lots of water and protein, any sugar will become a mood swing, and the only thing that will make our legs longer or our knees slimmer is a hallucination.

wow. I don't even know where to start with this your daughter is not you Nora she an extension of you. She is her own person with her own body

. You have no obligation to teach your daughter at all about how an adult woman should take care of her body. Your job is to teach your daughter nutrition and healthy exercise and how to best take care of her growing body.

Telling her what she needs and doesn't need based on your experience is absolutely setting up some kind of disordered, dysmorphic thinking of looking at your body

this is good food for thought--

so I don't drink milk, only almond or coconut milk in lattes

OP - are you getting your lattes at Starbucks or another coffee shop? The calories in unsweetened coconut/almond milk are about half of what they typically serve you in a coffee shop which is usually sweetened with extra sugars.

Starbucks uses unsweetened coconut and almond milk.

They do not, at least not the last time I asked. They are both “lightly” sweetened. They showed me the cartons.

Actually, only the almond milk is unsweetened.

I went from drinking 3/4 times a week to 1/2 at most. I’ve switched from tropical fruit (pineapple, watermelon etc) to only apples and berries. I weigh and measure my food and don’t eat any snacks between meals. I have Hashimoto’s but my meds have me in a good range that some doctors consider to be hyperthyroid.

I haven’t lost a pound nor an inch.

Sorry, no good advice for you. Maybe you’ll have better luck than I do.

Just one issue is that you subbed a fruit that is 90% water (watermelon) for a fruit that is full of carbs (apple). This isn't the entire reason you aren't losing but it shows you don't understand nutrition very well.

It's all about calories in and calories out. Doesn't matter how healthy the food are if you're not in a calorie deficit. You will nkt lose.

I am fat but grew up with a very eating disordered mom. If you don’t want your dc to struggle with weight please consider what they are learning by watching you. Especially those of th who are at a normal weight but seem desperate to starve yourselves thinner.

I hear you, short people. I am the same. The weight sits in the middle more after 40.

Cut out the simple sugar you see. If you normally eat a big chocolate chip cookie, cut that in half. If you eat a sandwich, use one slice of bread. If you drink soda, cut that or drink half of it. If you eat a plate of pasta, cut that into half or 1/4 of your plate. Add protein and vegetables. Almost like a diabetic meal. If you replace some of your carbs with plants, you will see a difference in a week.

Don't forget to move. Walking is the simplest but walk faster each time and increase the distance. If you don't to increase distance, walk hills. Don't cut the carbs entirely because if you exercise, you need that.

I only go to independent coffee shops. That said I have cut out lattes completely and have black coffee or a red eye.

Well, breakfast and lunch are at work, so they'd never notice that. If I skip dinner it is only when their dad isn't home, so they prefer to read at dinner and ignore me anyway. Perhaps they do notice, but they've never commented on it. I'm usually cleaning up as they eat & read, so it is isn't in their face.

I don't eat any simple sugar and barely any processed food and I can't lose weight at 5'0". It may work for some but not for all.

this. you don't need to necessarily cut out any food group, but yes, limiting processed carbs and filling up high-fiber foods and protein helps.

I work out every day and eat a healthy vegetarian diet. No alcohol. Nothing works. I have accepted that I am very healthy (not on any meds!) but I will never be thin again.

Same exact thing happened with my sister and female cousins. We look at each other and say WTF?!

For what it's worth 5'2 and 129 is still fine! I bet you look way better than you feel.

especially if you work out every day. i don't get the fascination with women wanting to disappear.

The almond milk is sweetened, but it does have the least amount of sugar of the three non-dairy milks.

I've had good results with mixing protein powder (chocolate or vanilla) into my coffee with a bit of half & half. It tastes like a mocha and actually keeps me full, rather than plain coffee which just makes me ravenous. I have one for breakfast with a pice of fruit or oatmeal, and one in the afternoon as a snack. I find sipping on a drink over the course of an hour keeps me from snacking (which I can't stop doing once I start!).

I'm 5 foot. I was at 139 and lost 10 lbs. over six months so now I'm at 129. I lost by tracking what I ate, trying to eat well and watching carbs, sugar, alcohol and snacks. Its really hard to maintain weight loss because any cheating at all such as adding cheese to a sandwich or drinking 2 glasses of wine, kills the day's progress.
