Metro workers laugh and make jokes as a lady is chased into the train station and assaulted

No they should not put themselves at risk. But laughing and making fun of the situation is uncalled for. They should have at the very least expressed support to the victim.

I believe every word. Attendants are mostly jerks and interacting with them makes a person want to go "postal." Bad attitudes. Seems racial even. Yep I went there.

A WaPo vendor stabbed a man at Addison Road metro.

Same here.

Unfortunately I have no trouble believing it.
I feel horrible for the victim.
The Metro employees probably are not allowed to let people in their booth, for the employees' safety. It must be a blanket rule. The shoe thing is also a rule on Metro. The problem is not the rules, but Metro employee attitude towards violence. They should respond immediately and be trained in a compassionate approach. However these employees are obviously poorly paid, stupid and unmotivated. They have seen it all, and their laugh shows that.

Now if they were better paid and better trained to respond, would fares go up? How would people like that?

They are well paid. They're just unmotivated.

Jesus! Is someone actually saying that metro employees are underpaid?!!? Please look at their compensation. It is several times minimum wage. I doubt you could find another unskilled job with no bachelor's degree required that paid so highly.

Other than janitors, which metro jobs are unskilled? Bus and train operators require a CDL license and the ability to get along with a nasty and demanding public. The plumbers, electricians, elevator and escalator techs are skilled. Which positions at metro that you interact with require no skills? Please understand there is a difference between being good with the required skills and unskilled.

By that logic, everyone is skilled. Hairdressers, secretaries, etc.

I agree that electricians and plumbers need schooling, but bus and train operators are taught on the job and the job pays for their CDL. The metro station managers are glorified greeters.

Hairdressers are skilled you idiot. They have cosmetology licenses, and spend upwards of 2 years and 20k on school.

Another reason why I now avoid using Metro.

You're sharing the road with the people who supposedly did this.

I have friends that work for metro. Metro workers that operate the booth are NOT security in anyway. They are also not allowed to let people inside of the booth. The booth is for their protection. Imagine anyone just running up saying they need help to get inside? Should they have laughed and made comments? No, of course not, but they followed proper protocol.

Yes, thank you! Glad you "went there". I have yet to encounter ONE attendant who will raise their head to even look at you if you ask a question through their protective plexiglass "office". Instead they either totally ignore you or mumble the answer while looking down. Horrible, nasty, racist assholes - all of them!

Oh please!! so this is your attempt at excusing their disgusting inhuman behavior?

The throwing of the brochures could be evidence, because of potential fingerprints. If that part works, it is possible the suspects are in DC's database and they can pursue things further.

Presuming this story is true.

“Dear PoPville,

I was walking home from the grocery store and crossing Randolph when a blue Altima made a full at full speed almost hitting into me. I put my hand on the car out of instinct when you are about to be hit. They were so pissed I touched there car. They went into the Wendy’s turned around and chased me down with their car. There were 5 people in the car. I ran towards the metro because I saw police there earlier. No police were outside so I ran into the station.

2 of the girls jumped out of the car and ran down into the metro station after me. I was banging on the booth asking for help. The metro attendant took his time and called the police. He did not offer me refuge in the booth. Instead only let me on the other side of the turnstiles where the girls then took a full box of bus schedules that was left on the floor and slammed it against my head. The other metro lady found this funny and laughed. The metro janitor also laughed saying should I clean this up or is this evidence. The metro police came 15 to 20 mins after being called followed by the dc police.

I had a partial license plate, car type and color. Both the girls were caught on camera. They said “I Guess we can request footage” No one asked me one if I was okay. Metros safety push is a joke. I have never felt more unsafe. I want to get word out of what happened so no one else makes the mistake of thinking of going to metro as a safe haven like I did. Assault to them seems to be funny.”
this would be the Georgia avenue Petworh stop, so why would you run underground. That area is fully congested with stores and police everywhere.

It says Randolph which would be Wheaton or possibly White Flint metros. Very car-centric suburban areas. Probably a ton of cars around, not necessarily a single person who wasn't in a car.
