You sound like someone who doesn't exercise.

OP, how much of that 10lbs is fat? The more I run, the bigger my thighs get - and it's definitely muscle. I also gained about 5-10lbs since I started strength training. My clothes aren't tight, and I'm definitely leaner. Fitting back into your pre-training clothes is one thing, but don't get so hung up on the scale number.

You're right. 138 on 5'2 is simply because the op is athletic. Haha.

Lol omg haha. But how many half marathons have you run?

Only two. I gave up running years ago. If I walk I stay toned. for me it's all about what I put in my mouth. I have quite a few friends who run and need to lose weight.

Sounds like they'd be better off losing you.

I would be rolling on the floor laughing if I heard someone who "walks" to "stay toned" told an athletic person of any size to lose weight. I would bet anything that the PP is skinny fat and has a higher body fat percentage than her running friends.

I prefer a European lifestyle. I walk when running errands and would rather enjoy a glass of wine after work than running. I may be skinny fat, but I'm in shape and I'm fairly thin. I think it's working for me.

Bwahahahaha, a European lifestyle you say? Girl, bye.

I can assure you that I would rather be a thin wine drinker than an overweight runner.

Have you considered that you have a very distorted and unhealthy view of what "seems high?" She is within normal range. I don't think she would be unwelcome at a WW meeting and if she feels better at 128 I'm all for it, but you have issues if you think a healthy weight for a 5.2 person is a little over 100 lbs.

I think a healthy weight would probably be 115. I guarantee you at 128 the op still has stomach flab, which means she needs to lose weight.

128 is a really nice weight for someone 5'2. While you personally may prefer to be bony, the OP may not. Don't sell bony as healthy & 128 as unhealthy. Plus, no one knows her blood pressure, glucose level, cholesterol, muscle mass, endurance. Weight is not the only measure of health but a part of it. Just because there is an obesity epidemic we shouldn't crucify everyone who isn't skinny.

OP - try weight watchers. There are people of all sizes and shapes and the new plan is really good and emphasizes balance and healthy foods (everything in moderation but emphasis on learn protein and vegetables/fruit).

You may need to try a couple meetings to find a leader you connect with and a meeting that feels right.

Good luck!

So would I but more importantly, I'd rather be kind than anything like you.

I would hate to live a life where my "exercise" consists of running errands. You'd rather drink than exercise, that's fine, but you're in no position to judge people who are more dedicated to fitness than you are.

I would vastly prefer to be fit at any weight than drink and be small. Being weak and unconditioned would be really depressing. No question.

My SIL is thin but so out of shape she can barely lift her 3 year old.

I would rather be in shape and enjoy good food than subsist on wine and gluten free crackers.

This thread has turned into a silly debate. Anyway, going back to the OP, I think for someone in her situation working with a trainer if she can afford it and seeing a nutritionist would be more helpful.

I agree. At that height and weight, some body recomposition would probably be more important than weight loss.

Seriously - what a bunch of miserable losers. Does it really feel that great to anonymously tell some woman that she's fat, not thin, and should go lose 30 pounds?

Isn't the Weight Watchers saying, "Nothing tastes as good as criticizing others' appearance feels"?

OP, yes, WW is fine for just losing a few! It teaches some good habits too so that down the road you can think about food differently as your weight and body change throughout life.

And most WW groups are full of supportive and motivated people, unlike some other forums where you'll mostly find spiteful bitches.

Op, I've been to many ww meetings and rarely saw anyone morbidly obese. Most people seem to be in the 10-50 pounds to lose range. I've actually heard that super obese people complain about this.

Of course, for the psycho poster upthread, 10 pounds over ideal is morbidly obese!
