What major? |
That's tough. I think you may look back on this in April with loads of acceptances and say it works out. but it's tough btw now and then |
I'm sorry!! There are lots of irrational things that happen. It could be that another kid applied ED from their school and they had decided they could only take one, it could be that the AO had an off day and was grumpy when reading the app. it could be something else entirely random. Who knows. That said, I would also have someone read the app just to make sure the kid comes off sounding appealing and that there are no red flags. Maybe something is phrased weirdly or looks dishonest (too good to be true). You never know with teenagers. Good luck! I'm sure he'll have a lot of options down the road and in my experience the vast majority of kids land where they're meant to be. |
Strong in what way? Did you see their rec letters? Their essay? |
My kid didn't do that. He got in. |
How do you know rec letters were very strong? |
Could this actually happen? I learnt that they don't cap by school. |
The school profile should have explained no APs. If you haven't seen it, ask to see it. If it's not there, put that in additional info section. Agree with a parent review of future apps before submitting more. We had a college counselor but there was still a lot of room for parent input. You know your kid, they don't |
I don't know about Midd specifically, but I do know of situations where two kids from the same school have gotten into other top colleges. |
why do people always ask this? some people know. the teachers show them. or the guidance counselor says, wow, mr black gave you a stellar rec letter etc. some people know. no reason not to take people at their word. they could be lying, sure. they could also be lying about the SAT score or all the rest. |
The weak link here is likely the 3.7 GPA. |
We are also waiting on Swarthmore ED. 12/15 (but rumor that it could be 12/13) |
You applied ED to Midd and Swarthmore at the same time? |
It was a question, they could answer it |
It's a legit question and was aimed at helping them. If they knew because they didn't waive FERPA for example, that could hurt them. Or maybe they don't know and should rethink their recommenders for the next apps. |
