Flat out rejected. 1540 SAT, ~93.5 GPA on 14 honors (School doesn't have APs + I knew this was weakest part, but thought that maybe ED + other parts would make up), tons of leadership throughout the school, research assistant for prof. at ivy+, very strong letters of rec, essay that CC said was one of the strongest he's ever read, good interview, full pay male, and even would have been more than happy to be a Feb. Sometimes it's just not meant to be
Holy crud! That must sting. It's not a rational process, I keep reminding myself of that. Maybe the AO didn't understand the school doesn't have APs? I suspect he will end up somewhere great eventually but lots of sympathy meanwhile. It might be worth having a teacher or outside adult read over the app too just in case there's something in there that could be misinterpreted. You may have already done that, and the answer is probably that it's just irrational, but just in case.
The school profile should have explained no APs. If you haven't seen it, ask to see it. If it's not there, put that in additional info section. Agree with a parent review of future apps before submitting more. We had a college counselor but there was still a lot of room for parent input. You know your kid, they don't
