| Based on Middlebury's SAT scores where 28% submitted an SAT, Middlebury prefers test optional applicants? All these 1530, 1560 scorers getting rejected is quite surprising since not many freshman at all even have scores above those numbers. There are fewer than a dozen 1560 scorers in the entire freshman class. TO seems to be favored. |
| Middlebury is super selective, like many of it's SLAC peers. They do not focus on the SATs, it's not how you get into these schools. You meet a benchmark (likely 1450-ish) and move on where it becomes about everything else - recommendations, activities, writing and communication - these qualities are far more important to them than the numbers. And some candidates are strong enough that test scores are not needed. The college knows what it's looking for and how to find it. |
| Not a SLAC fan, don’t get the appeal of a tiny school in far corner of Vermont with very long winters. Williams and Amherst maybe. |
| I really am surprised by high test scorers getting shut out |
Williams and Amherst are no different than Middlebury academically. Williams is even more remote. |
Sounds like you’re not a New England fan. To each their own. |
You should just stick to football schools. The places where real learning occurs are not for you. |
Well, maybe you should do more research into what it’s like to go to such a school and why kids end up loving their 4 years there. Or, just STFU. |
