What rule changes should NVSL do for next year?

We open at 11 on a regular schedule, so we’d probably just start the meet at 8:30 instead of 9.

Agree. If we host, we can start at 8am.

I asked our team rep about this and she told me that she already plans ask the other team to hold (or we will hold) the meet on the Federal Friday (3rd) instead of the 4th. This is allowable by the rules and will solve a number of problems and make it easier for families to go out of town.

+1 great idea and I support this over Sunday.

If we want to honor the spirit of summer swim, we shouldn’t force half the pools to be closed on the biggest day of the summer.

Next year won't be the first time in the history of the NVSL that July 4th happened to fall on a Saturday. Just like a leap year, old timers know how to handle this situation.

For the PP that said they would suggest the rule change on tech suits (please). Are you a team rep? The rule has to be proposed by a team rep or a league member.

Yes I am. I wasn’t going to propose it, but am working it up now.

Mandate teams follow the ladder for divisionals and divisional relays selection.

That’s an inter team issue. NVSL has no jurisdiction on how teams decided to seed meets.

Yeah, 8 am would work too.

Would your team rep propose it?

Can anyone get their rep to propose it?

Along with the false start rule, I will strongly oppose it.

There is a ton of support to ban tech suits at dual meets. Please please someone step up and make it happen.

Rule change:

Only FINA-approved tech suits may be worn by 13&u swimmers at Relay Carnival, Divisionals, and All Star meets. No Technical suit may be worn by any athlete at Dual meets.

a tech suit is a jammer or kneeskin with bonded seams, suits that do not extend beyond the hip or have stitched seams are allowed.

Technically no. But, personally, I still think they are ridiculous for dual meets.

That said, I’m all for tech suits, in any capacity, for Divisionals and all stars if the kids want to have a fighting chance of breaking records. If there is a total ban, the current records will be extremely tough to beat.

Change the age group determination rule. Kids should age up on the day of their birthday just like they do in year-round swim. They shouldn't swim based on what their age is on June 1st.

Ugh please no. It makes sense in year round swim, it’s a 9 month or 11 month season.

Summer swim is 6 weeks. I would be all for moving it up to June 1 or out to August 1 though.
