What rule changes should NVSL do for next year?

Anonymous
I know there was a lot of angst over the walk of shame rule but I feel like it became a nonissue in practice and was not as disastrous as the NVSL made it seem it would be.

Any good rule changes that you can think of or your team rep is proposing?

I don't know if this would involve a rule change, but they should NOT have an A meet on July 4th. Our team will have to forfeit if we are asked to host a meet that day because our pool won't let us open late. I doubt we are the only team in that situation.

What time do you open?

I know I'll catch a lot of flack for this - but I would love to see a rule banning tech suits in dual meets. They're unnecessary and unsporting in what's supposed to be a fun summer rec league.
They could still be allowed in divisional and all-star meets.
And to preempt the modesty complaints, there are modest suits and knee skins available that aren't tech suits.

I completely agree with you. They are not in the spirit of summer. Our team has moved up in the league and we swam against a few pools that the coaches and team reps made their kids where tech suits. We would walk in and 20-30 kids in tech suits with no business being in them.

The NVSL board should push this one and not the team reps. They should back up their talk of summer league.

I asked our team rep about this and she told me that she already plans ask the other team to hold (or we will hold) the meet on the Federal Friday (3rd) instead of the 4th. This is allowable by the rules and will solve a number of problems and make it easier for families to go out of town.

+1 great idea and I support this over Sunday.

If we want to honor the spirit of summer swim, we shouldn’t force half the pools to be closed on the biggest day of the summer.

Division 1 would be up in arms about this. OKM has a whole system of tech suits for all swimmers at dual meets.

D1 would have no issue with this

I would support this 100%. Tech suits in dual meets are ridiculous.

BS. I would love them to propose it then.

Why are you making things up?

for purposes of this thread and banning tech suits for dual meets, is a Speedo Aquablade Recordbreaker a tech suit?
