alarm goes off at 530a

530a-630a: making/drinking coffee, empty dishwasher, pack kid lunch. this hour is important bc me time to drink coffee and gives my body time to wake up and make poop

work out 7am-9am. ill get 60 minutes in this 120 min block. run, corepower, yoga class, sometimes i can get two in.

bed by 930pm. eat a lot of fruit at night so i can make a #2 quicker in the morning. the end

I live in AZ like running and despise the treadmill. If I want to run outside there is no other option than getting up early. Even my 6am runs are pushing it. I really should go around 5:30 but I like to sleep.

Tell yourself that you just need to get dressed and walk a bit outside for the first week so it won't seem so daunting. Then you can ramp up what you're doing over time. But set that habit of getting up and a little exercise first.

NP. I feel you, OP. I work full time and have three young kids; I go to a 5:30 AM class at my gym. It's painful. I would love to work out at, like, 11 AM. I'm jealous of people who can do this. I take classes on the weekend at my gym at 8 and 9 and that feels so much better. I feel excited to go, rather than forced to go and physically exhausted. Gym is 5 minutes from my house. I set my alarm for 5:10, wake up, bathroom, brush teeth, throw on gym clothes, grab my water bottle and go. Home by 6:30. I do feel super proud of myself getting in my car after my class. That feeling is worth the pain of waking up and exercising at such an ungodly hour.

This is a good idea!

Also -- you don't need to do it every day. Start with just once or twice a week, then work up!

Yes, I am in the DMV so it's really humid. Like today I was out by 7, it's 68 but the humid is SO bad you are dripping sweat in an easy run. I also hate the treadmill, so I use the summer to lift weights and do sprints on the treadmill.

I would recommend just doing a walk around the neighborhood. I used to force myself to work out when I wake up and end up injuring myself a few times.

Add another walk after work, and do an online barre class after dinner. Sometimes I skip dinner to take another walk.

I agree with the others that it’s all about creating a habit / mindless routine.

I also need some negative reinforcement - a person I’ll let down if I don’t show up for a morning workout, or money I’ll lose by forfeiting a class. It’s too easy for me to hit the snooze button otherwise 😊

I am the opposite. I’m a teacher and prefer evening workouts after dinner and then a protein snack. In bed by 9:30. Now that I’m home I workout mid morning which is preferred and works with the kids.

Honestly you just do it and over time you and your body adjust. If you routinely get up early you start going to bed earlier which makes getting up easier.

I am "lucky" in that I have to drop my kids off at morning swim practice most days so I head to the gym after that and get there by 5am. However, even before early morning swim I was in the morning exercise routine.

I love sleep but I also love the feeling of having my workout done for the day rather than hanging over me all day. I am also motivated to get to the gym early because going to my gym after work with the masses is pure hell.

I will admit then I get a better workout on the weekends when I go later in the morning, but a 7/10 workout is better than no workout.

I do well in the summer months (there is no chance in hell I can get up early when it's still pitch black outside).

I set my alarm for 5:45, snooze once, and am up by 5:55. I have usually laid out my clothes the night before, and I put them on and go to my home gym and start working out by 6.

I really enjoy working out, and I exercise every day. That said, I HATE working out in the morning with a freaking passion. I have tried versions of this since I was in my 20s, and the only reason this works now is because my schedule is such that if I don't get up and do it before work, I may not have a chance to get it in.

W/r/t pooping, I have noticed the morning workouts really throw off my digestive system. Another reason they suck.

Lights out by 10 pm at the latest. Ideally 9:30. I’m up at 5:15 every day. Kid has 6am football so I have to be up anyway. Might as well workout.

Eh,, the sun wakes me up early so I just take a 30 minute nap if I'm really tired in the afternoon.
do you work? In an office?
