No Qualley as well!

SAG swung back to include the younger female leads and knocked off the "body of work" nod to Nicole, Angelina, etc. Maybe Demi's GG speech will nab her a SAG.

I’m kind of shocked that both Pamela Anderson and Demi Moore maintained slots. They both have the same dark horse narrative with Demi Moore picking up huge momentum from her GG acceptance speech.

I expected Moore to get a slot, but am really surprised by Anderson over Kidman, Jolie, Jean-Baptiste, and Torres. I do think the underdog narrative is effective in her case but I don't think she's as strong an actress. Given that Jolie was on just about every list until the BAFTA longlist omission, I also wonder if this doesn't have to do with her general unpopularity among friends of Brad, Jen, and Laura. Kidman wasn't on as many lists, but I did think she'd make it on.

Other weird choices--Lily Gladstone for Under the Bridge and Nicola Coughlan for Bridgerton. Why?

I don't think so since Spencer didn't do well at SAG either. I think Kristen only made the BAFTA longlist since it was longer. Nicole is popular in Hollywood too and should've made it. She was stacking up the awards that Angelina didn't have. It's ludicrous Anderson made it over her. She won the NB and the Volpi Cup.

It seems like they knocked off the old actress (Angelina,Kate, Nicole) for newer ones.

Agree. You'd think her peers of all people would have respected the difficulty of that particular role.[/quot]

That's what's making annoyed. She was too boring in Being the Ricardos causing her the end Oscar win. Fine. Babygirl is a daring and difficult role as you said where she's finally getting more serious smaller accolades like the Volpi Cup. Yet she's doing worst this award season then ever before. Nicole seriously hustled at back to back screenings and made several top 10 preformance lists. What more could she possibly do lol

Agreed and I hope Demi gets it. I guess Nicole still has the BAFTA but she's not winning. She's essentially dead. Hope sad for Kate as well. She tried her best

Jamie Lee ran a internal campaign to get her and Pamela in.

Studios and/or wealthy, well-connected actors hire awards season strategists whose job is promote them and get them these nominations.

Hard to see what Jamie Lee could do that the professionals won't have done for the others.

DGA nominations out too. The big news there is no Wicked or Dune 2.

Some wondered if Anora was fading but SAG and DGA noms boost.

I think the Last Showgirl noms happened because of the Coppola name and because the movie is less controversial and generally better liked than Babygirl or Maria. Also because Jolie is not popular among her peers and Kidman is incessantly on screen these days, in tv and movies, which dilutes the impact of her work that is actually stellar. Probably split votes between them, creating an opening that benefited PA because so few people had seen Fernanda Torres's or Marianne Jean-Baptiste's performances.

Lee was even less well liked. Also seems there was a desire for fresh blood. It is a shame that it tends to be the same group of women nominated repeatedly. I feel a little bad for Nicole, bold role and a tough year, but she's been nominated for a SAG 15x for heaven's sake. She'll live without this one.

Kate Winslet.

Is Kate hustling at all this season? Every time the camera panned to her during the GG, it looked like she desperately wanted to be anywhere but there.

I think she's aware she's not really in it and is just going through the motions when needed.

She was actually hustling pretty hard early on but agree she's no longer.

Yeah, she was hustling like crazy. You should see how many zoom interviews she was doing with voters and having her friends come out. Frances Fisher was promoting her like crazy. Lee is critically did really well but it wasn't enough.
