Qualley's time will come. She will continue getting great work and will have other shots at this. Deadwyler too, I'm sure. |
I thought Barbaro was very good though necessarily stronger than Qualley or Deadwyler. But conventional wisdom is that Oscar voters love biopics. |
Poor Pamela. She said her SAG was vindication after Pam and Tommy only for Stan to get a nomination for the Trump movie. |
Her getting the SAG nom is incredible. She’s fine. |
+1 |
Demi for the win! |
If we base the win on a mix of performance plus narrative, yes. Based purely on performance, I'd go with Torres. |
The spate of recent scandals and backstabbing is interesting. Seems like Demi Moore is the one who wins from all of this, since Madison has lost momentum and Erivo never had it to begin with? |
Demi Moore was the one to beat to begin with, so yes. This boosts her further. |

Adrien Brody, Demi Moore, Kieran Culkin, and Zoe Saldana continue to cement themselves as front runners in the acting categories. There was a shakeup with best director and best picture. John Chu won best director for Wicked, though he missed out on both Oscar and DGA nominations. Best Picture went to Anora. |
Interesting. I thought Marianne Jean-Baptiste might pull off the CC win. I still think Torres is a dark horse, but looks like Demi Moore is on track to win the Oscar. No clear frontrunner for BP, would be perfectly happy for Anora to win it. Would be a nice consolation prize for Mikey Madison too. She gave an exceptional performance. The Brutalist was really hurt by the AI scandal, though that seemed like a nothingburger to me. |
Mikey Madison has been picking up momentum. She beat Demi in the best actress category at both the BAFTAs and the Independent Spirit Awards. The SAG awards tonight, will be the edge going into the Oscars.

Agree Madison has great momentum again. But Oscar voting ended, I think, just as she was picking up steam again. Maybe the BAFTA helped idk. The fact that she's in the movie generally viewed as better, a strong contender for BP, helps her quite a bit. Since she basically is the movie. I also think Torres remains a strong dark horse. I won't be surprised if any of these three win. Nor will I be displeased. All great performances, though I lean Torres for depth and technical execution. |
These are always fun to read each year. There's another publication that does this but I can't remember what it is
