I think the Last Showgirl noms happened because of the Coppola name and because the movie is less controversial and generally better liked than Babygirl or Maria. Also because Jolie is not popular among her peers and Kidman is incessantly on screen these days, in tv and movies, which dilutes the impact of her work that is actually stellar. Probably split votes between them, creating an opening that benefited PA because so few people had seen Fernanda Torres's or Marianne Jean-Baptiste's performances.[/quote]
