TikTok is far worse for your health than coffee cream. |
+1 Now, the sugar in your coffee I'm on board with ditching, as well as the coffee "drinks" that are loaded with sugar, additives and calories are another story. |
Nah, I just like the sharp taste. Weird that you assign a negative personality to it just because you don’t like it. |
Look, every calorie over your burn rate adds weight. And yes, a fraction of a pound getting added every day day/week/month will eventually add up to real weight.
But the misguided thing here is pining everything on one source of calories. What matters is the big picture. If you’re eating vegetables and lean protein most days, that’s what’s going to keep you lean regardless of how you take your coffee. Think about the reverse: could someone eat Big Macs and Taco Bell all day but stay skinny by cutting creamer? No. Because it’s not what makes the difference. |
I mean, in the same way that slice of cheese or that handful of nuts or that apple et etc etc will. All food has calories. Strongly disagree that putting half and half in your coffee is uniquely responsible for widespread weight gain across the population |
They aren’t talking about the people putting a splash of cream. They’re talking about the people dumping in half a glass of flavored creamer or getting a 250 calorie latte and mentally logging it as “a coffee.” If you really care, measure your usual pour and just account for it in your calories but no, it’s not going to make or break you. |
I think dairy will catch up to the majority of women in menopause. |
Some are putting in 1/4 cup with each coffee, all day long. It adds up. They aren’t putting in a tiny teaspoon. |
I think it's borderline eating disordered behavior.
If you are exercising regularly and eating a healthy diet, some amount of fat in your diet is totally fine. Good even because it contributes to helping you feel full and can help fuel workouts (yes protein too but fat and protein go hand in hand to a certain degree). What catches up to people is alcohol. If you drink alcohol on a daily basis, even if it's only moderate amounts, it's very hard to keep your weight down even with exercise and otherwise healthy eating. But a splash of half and half is not equivalent to a couple beers or a margarita or a big glass of wine. It's a dumb thing to be paranoid about. |
Because of fat content? Or for other reasons? I'm in peri and love dairy and have not experienced weight gain but have wondered if my digestive system can handle it as I get older. It's tough because I eat a very healthy diet generally but use dairy to help make all the healthy stuff I eat taste better and be more satisfying -- a good healthy salad but I'll dress it with a buttermilk ranch for instance. Or bean and rice bowls but I'll put in some cheese or sour cream. This balance has always worked well for me in the past but so many women I know avoid dairy that I wonder if I'll keep it up. |
Life’s too short to put skim milk in your coffee.
|
A tablespoon of REAL organic cream in 8oz of coffee once a day will not make you fat. A quarter cup of fake hazelnut kreamer in 16oz of coffee absolutely will. |
Also, Matcha tea is superior to coffee in every respect, especially if you are truly health conscious. |
I'm similar, not in peri yet but trying to lose a few pounds before I get there. I stopped eating breakfast most days because I realized it was my least nutritious meal, I was just loading up on carbs to sit at my computer, but I still drink plenty of coffee with whole milk. I also frequently eat dairy with my (smaller and more veggie based) lunch and dinner. |
52 in menopause and I still eat dairy daily. Milk, Greek yogurt, cheese. Yes some days I’m more gassy and bloated and that could be it but I’m not giving it up. I’ve also gained 3-4 lbs-I’n 5’2” and it’s noticeable to me but maybe not to anyone else. The extra lbs are not because of dairy. I still basically eat whatever I want (chips, dessert, candy) and I’m ok with the few extra pounds. |
