Yes. And Christians are the followers of Christ, who is the son of God/Chrishna. Where is the confusion?

So true. Lucky him.

Hinduism is a religion of peace, acceptance and tolerance. Just like other religions of the Indian subcontinent that have emerged from Hinduism - Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism.

She encouraged him to go back to his Catholic faith.

The majority of devout Catholics will support the candidate who follows church teachings on abortion and traditional marriage (in this case, Trump/Vance).

No, you don’t speak for all Catholics (nor do you get to decide who is a true Catholic). Maybe you should reread Luke 18:9–14. Jesus warned about people like you. It’s actually the perfect metaphor for Trump Catholics. Washington DC area Trump Catholics do not speak for all Catholics. A lot of Catholics here (with exception of churches like Holy Trinity) believe that it’s okay to cage children, to turn immigrants away, to have affairs with P0rN stars and then lie about it, to neglect our poor and elderly, to use the Bible as a prop holding it upside down while gassing peaceful protestors, and selling Bibles as a blasphemous political prop like they were a cheap Trump steak or NFT of Trump dressed like Superman. We are from the Northeast where Catholics still believe in Jesus and his teachings to care for others. So do the Jesuits and the Pope himself. It’s sad that so many area churches have become so political and have turned their back on the teachings of Jesus.

Jesus would not want you to be judging others in this way. It is His responsibility to determine whether someone has turned their back on His teachings.

His wife very carefully states she was raised Hindu. I haven’t seen anything about her current practices or beliefs, not that they should matter.

Hindus neither convert others nor can be converted. And in the Hindu belief system, everyone is a Hindu. If you have a soul, you are Hindu. Every living thing is Hindu. His wife is a brilliant woman and has the Indian values. She is not so dumb as to say anything that will be triggering to any voter. Her faith is her business.

There is no confusion. Only mistaken speculation that Vance is somehow intolerant of others when his own wife is Hindu.

Hindus and Christians do not worship the same God don't even try it with your attempt at revisionism to sanitize Hinduism.

+1

+2, except I’m from the West. Cradle Catholic, former liturgical minister, former CCD teacher, still volunteer with one of the sodality sponsored groups. Went to mass pretty much every week until the pandemic, and grew up with priests in my house pretty regularly, start each car trip with the rosary, etc. PDC (pretty darn Catholic). I’ve never had an abortion but for reasons that have be one become apparent in places like Florida and Texas, I don’t think the government should be in charge of healthcare decisions. It should be between a woman, her doctor, and her God. I wouldn’t want some other religion telling me I can’t get a blood transfusion. What I do think is essential to Catholicism, as I learned it, is to treat others with kindness, charity and love. Nothing about Trump or his policies does this. It’s dismaying to me that so many Catholics are willing to throw out the entirety of Jesus’s teachings about helping others solely in order to ban abortion. Maybe they should focus more on creating a church that others would want to join, so that people agree with their moral stance, and less on threatening doctors licenses or liberty.

Not really. Everything is one. Meaning, that nothing is labeled. It’s not that everyone is Hindu. It’s that everything is us and we are everything, so everyone and everything deserves respect.

He was anti-Trump and now converted to be his boot licking VP. I wouldn't read too much into this. You are about to watch him try to say that while he's pro choice he's not really interested in pushing a pro choice agenda and all sorts of other garbage to try and win.

Ok...this is part of a religion...you are explaining this as if you are explaining observable natural phenomena we have taken for granted but never recognized. No, I just don’t believe your religion is true. You are free to assemble as this is the U.S. Are you ok with that?

Does it matter what Vance says? Trump is definitely winning. He could have picked Sarah Palin and he’d still win.

Sure. You don’t have to believe what Hindus believe. I was just responding to the person who said that Hindus believe that everyone is Hindu.

If she hasn’t converted they are living in sin.

All religions worship the same God. The interpretation of the teaching of that God by humans is perverted in many religion. . That is the reason that Hinduism does not attempt to convert anyone. If the same God created every living soul then who are we to convert them? If you are trying to convert others to your faith then it shows that you have no faith in the wisdom of the being that you call God. By trying to proselytize you are insulting the creation of your own God.

So, yes, Hindus and Christians worship the same God. But Christians do not know that. No need to sanitize Hinduism at all because it is a philosophy and a path to live a good life. It is not an Abhramic religion so it does not need to be sanitized.

He does seem like an opportunist so I’m not confident that he didn’t choose conversion in part due to the political advantage, but evangelicalism might have served him better there. At any rate, I find the Trunp policies and attitudes/rhetoric to be entirely antithetical to Catholic teaching,so I can’t be impressed by the faith of any Catholic that hitches his wagon to Trump.

Of all the things about the Catholic Church that I find most disappointing, the Catholic support of Trump is near the top of the list. If the majority of the faithful are voting for this, I think that the Church is failing to effectively communicate Jesus’s message. I find it really depressing. WWJD? Not be anywhere near Trump, that’s for sure.

I don’t think the Catholics support Trump like the Evangelicals. Catholic tradition calls for caring for immigrants and refugees as a core part of Catholic social justice teaching. That’s one area where they break with Trump. But I agree with you- Trump is the opposite of Jesus and how any Christian supports Trump is beyond me. I think it’s Christian white supremacist nationalists who support Trump, not real Christians.
