Grown women wearing mary janes

Mary Jane’s with heels have been popular for years, not sure what you’re going on about.

The weird thing about this post is that it strongly implies that adults shouldn't wear such shoes because they are childish. But little girls rarely wear mary janes anymore, so...?

It's awful, I agree.

+1. They're very unflattering and make legs look short and chunky.

Depends on which MJs you're wearing and with which outfit. My 20 yo DD likes the chunky platform MJs from Doc Marten. They look great on her and she's only 5'0" tall and 95 lbs.

Not my DD but this looks really cute

If they were so unflattering and make legs look short/chunky, I don't think the Rockettes would wear them so often. Scroll through the pictures and you'll see it's what they wear most often. https://www.vanityfair.com/culture/photos/2012/12/photos-rockettes-costumes-choreography

I like them because they stay on.

I can't understand why any grown woman would wear high heels that wreck her posture and cause ankle, tendon and calf injuries, and leave her unable to walk distances in comfort.

What shoes don’t stay on!?

Not the PP. I have low volume feet. That means my feet are narrow horizontally, not vertically. It took me years to figure out why I would just step out of any shoe that didn't have a high vamp or strap. I cannot wear loafers, ballet flats, or any sandal that doesn't have a strap across my instep. I can't even wear flip flops, the straps are too loose.

I have high arches and I can't wear flip flops, mules or anything without straps.

I feel like women or curling their toes to keep shoes on, life is too short for that bs.

Wow, I've never had any of these issues with shoes, flops, etc. I guess I will consider myself lucky.

Slip ons.

There must be a reason why ballroom dancers and flamenco dancer wears shoes with straps and why marathon runners wear lace ups.

With your logis, why doesn't a marathon runner wear mary janes then?

I know a woman in her 50's that has always worn mary janes.....with little lacey ankle socks and short skirts. It looks kinky.

Ok I am not on the side of people arguing against Mary Janes, but obviously the Rockettes wear them so the shoe doesn’t go flying off during a high kick

They are the in shoe for spring 2024.

My foot is not pointed. I prefer a shoe made to accommodate my foot, rather than having to make my foot accommodate a pointed-toe shoe.

Your toes don't have to fill the whole shoe.

Agreed. No matter what we’re discussing, you can make your own choices in life, as long as they’re not illegal.

Are you so afraid of other people’s judgement and that you keep closing doors for yourself? With that mindset, do you realize you probably do this professionally, and in other areas, not just the sartorial?

Broaden your mind, for your own sake.

With a wide foot, any part of the point is painful.

It didn’t even occur to me to be mad about this. I don’t think I associate them with little girls unless there’s some other cue, like a ruffle sock or it being child size.
