Grown women wearing mary janes

+1 I can't imagine being this worked up about the shoes someone chooses to wear. Like I hate those plastic clogs with the holes in them but it doesn't upset me when people wear them. I just assume they like them and move on with my life.

I also find all the "they're aging!" shrieking funny. Who cares? I'm middle aged, not a teenager. I refuse to wear heels anymore.

Women have to walk city blocks, ride the Metro, walk the office buildings, etc. Mary Jane’s are stylish and stay on your feet.

They aren’t stylish. They’re practical and that’s fine. Some would say grumpy.

I mean they are basically flats with a small strap I wear then with work pants and you cannot even really see the strap. They are MUCH more comfortable than heels and cuter than a lot of “comfort” shoes - certainly cuter than the sneakers I would wear to commute in otherwise.

The funny thing is that they are actually much cuter than the actual grandma shoes I would otherwise have to wear.

I got the Vionic Alameda and trust is is MUCH more fashionable than the alternatives.

Compare this: https://www.vionicshoes.com/alameda-mary-jane-flat.html?bvstate=pg:2/ct:r

To this: https://us.hotter.com/robyn-ii-shoes-brown-2528?_gl=1*n8jxuu*_up*MQ..*_gs*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAiA_orJBhBNEiwABkdmjLqMXctOCMfgA_vLvYXqxhacGqOyOI1UhXMjY21ZHnnQQ2C5-bjZURoCAncQAvD_BwE&gbraid=0AAAAA9WGWSk7bkZ9lCkgNwY29XVUbw_zN

Trust that I have been in the market for flats that are comfortable for a long long time, and the current trend of the sleeker mary Jane with the narrow strap is a big step up.

They are now extremely popular and every NYC fashion influencer is sharing their favorites. Even gorgeous 24 year olds. Styles change.

I love my Carel Arianas. They are super comfortable and can elevate casual outfits with jeans; or they can add a little whimsy to a boring, conservative look. But I’m not out here wearing frilly socks to work.

Oh those are cute! Is there any place to try on that brand in person around here?

Not that I know of, i impulsively ordered them online and regretted it until i received them haha.

I found them to be true to size. But I have narrow-ish midfeet and ankles so they may be uncomfortable for people with normal width feet; especially with tights or socks on. The patent leather stretches a tiiiiiiny bit around the toe box but nowhere else.
