Yep, I’m all for prosecuting parents if their minor children kill people.

Case on point (if her son hadn’t killed her already) is Adam Lazda’s mother. A parent who buys their mentally ill son a gun needs to be punished.

The guns were not Adam's. They belonged to his mother.

Under DC Code can only be held until 21, unfortunately. Same age girls killed the Uber Eats driver. One got held until 21, other got home confinement. Killing with bare hands and feet used to be a crime not committed by girls. Utterly horrifying.

Neighborhood knows who the man in the blue jacket is, likely are afraid of him.

Has their gang been named? Not enforcing truancy laws leaves kids at the mercy of very dangerous and violent people. Was this an initiation kill? Or just a thrill kill?

Heartbreaking for the poor elderly disabled man and his loved ones.

It should be 21 if they complete requirements such as counseling, education and job training and then sit before a panel that certifies them competent for society. Otherwise, stay in until they make those gains.

DC Code does not allow for the latter.

To me, that means DC Code needs a thoughtful update.

Any update that gets harder on criminals will be controversial because it will disproporitionately affect POCs.

Too bad. If you are going to act as a criminal, then you get the consequences regardless of your skin color.

Oh well.

Yet the victim was a person of color. Did not his life have value?

There should be a special place in h__l for those who murder a harmless disabled senior citizen.

Not according to the PP who is more concerned with the rights of criminals.

Have any of our enlightened DC Council members already rushed to the poor girls' defense? Clearly this is a terrible example of over-policing and systemic oppression. Also, don't forget the developing teenage brain!

Law abiding people will flee the city until reasonable safety is reestablished.

Poor man.

What school did these murderers attend?

Likely none. Doubtful they’ve been to school regularly

They had to be enrolled somewhere. I live in Ward 4 and have kids in elementary school and would really like to know.

If the court transcripts are public, it’s likely mentioned there. All of the teens involved were reported to not have attended school the 3 weeks preceding the murder.

We need more bike lanes.

This. Our local leaders need to get it together and enact some laws that save lives and protect citizens from this type of violence. Just imagine that these children, when they go to school, are in school with other children who don't have the protection needed. There's a video going around now on Twitter of an autistic student being beaten, kicked repeatedly in the head, by other young people in school. Our local leaders need to create more alternative schools where violent students can get the support and help they need while being kept from other people's children who do not deserve this violence and trauma anywhere -- but especially in school.

Your local leaders send their kids to private school.

They don’t care what happens in public school.

Only one council member currently has school aged children in private school. You don’t know what you’re talking about.
