My partner eyes up other women - am I too sensitive?

I'm 50 and was walking with my teenage son and this disgusting 40ish yo man was blatantly ogling me. I was wearing mom type clothes, nothing eye catching. Some men are just disgusting and will sexualize any female who passes by.

Everyone looks at attractive, fit people. I am a straight woman and definitely would have glanced for a second and immediately assessed a young woman’s body/beauty It’s a primal response- determining danger and being territorial. If your partner is unsophisticated enough to do more than glance, chances are good there will be other problems in your relationship.

I was at the park with my partner chatting on a bench when a runner passed us. It was a younger girl (26ish we are late 40s & early 50s) running in workout pants and a sports bra. She was attractive but you would have thought it was the pope tossing out money or something the way he was looking at her and broke his neck to continue staring. I thought about that moment for the rest of the day – do guys continue to think about that hot girl they saw running or the attractive lady who served them coffee? Or is it just a quick assessment of, they are attractive, I would bang her, and then they move on from that?

Women - how do you mentally move past this or not let it bother you? Am I just too sensitive?

- Things I didn't think I would have to worry or think about in my late 40s. =sigh=

You may or may not be too sensitive, but, if you don't enjoy being with a man who eyeballs women in front of you, then respect that about yourself. You don't have to change your standards to be with a man. Change the man to one worthy of you.

I am willing to bet that straight women look at attractive women longer than they do handsome men. I know if a man is too handsome I refrain from eye contact at all- I suppose I don’t want to give him the message I think I am in his league.

Yes. Men are very visual.

I think all people look some - looking to the point of getting caught is the issue.

Man in his 40s here. I view like a previous poster in that when I see art work I like, I look. Then it’s done. That’s all.

As a probably straight woman who is also attractive I do catch myself staring at other attractive women in tight clothing or who have very long hair. I complimented a woman on her pretty long hair and I believe she flirted back with me. I never stare or am captivated by handsome men though. I'm straight but I always end up staring at other pretty women.

The fact that you are able to catch him looking means he is an absolute slob and a boor.

All men look. Decent men are discreet, always.

Completely agree

In fact I will often bring up something like someone’s nice car, nice shoes, etc. because men don’t compete with other men over looks but they do when it comes to money. My man never cares if I look at other hot men. He does compare himself to other men when it comes to money.

Stay toxic ladies!

Love your condescending use of “stay toxic ladies!”

Also the use of “my man” - you sound low class. It’s just a low class thing to say my dear.

You’re obviously not straight. Just accept it and start loving life.

Nope. We might say so and so is attractive but he would never disrespect me. The great thing is that he is hot and I see men and women checking him out at 55. Lucky me.

Decent men don't refer to women as tarts. She didn't get dressed for you old prigs.
