Phone calls from mcps at 5:40 AM

+1 My (mild) complaint is that 5:40 is really late to make the call considering when bus drivers have to be at work to start the high school bus runs. But I would never complain about actually receiving that call. WTF?

The number of people who don't know how to work their basic phone settings is always incredible.

In the time you took to complain here, you could have googled how to solve this problem forever and updated your settings so this never happens again.

I get it, but others will complain this isn't sufficient and demand greater transparency.

All you are doing is showing us how much you REALLY do not understand how your phone settings work!! You can have an exception for your "away at college" kid's number, and for any other numbers you want to ring through. You can also have random numbers ring through if they call you twice within a few minutes (say, a hospital or police dept). But the random "school is on delay" call would be SILENT.

Please learn your phone settings! You are worse than my 82 year old father!

For those of you would land lines. Can you go to ParentVUE- my account and made adjustments from there? (I feel I was snarky about the do not disturb, forgetting that plenty of people have land lines. Now I’m just trying to be helpful.)

Or you could be grateful that it was MCPS redundantly notifying you about a two-hour delay, instead of the hospital or police notifying you about an emergency with one of your elderly family members, then go on with your day.

Blocking the number they called from means you won’t get other critical notifications or direct calls, assuming this is the school’s main number. This is highly irresponsible to do as a parent.

Op again. I have 1 other call from them in April of last year. I'm not too worried about missing "critical calls" from mcps LoL.

For all the others on this thread- we recieved texts, emails and app messages at the same time as the phone call. Phone calls should be reserved for emergencies like a school shooting. A simple delay should not ring your cell phone at 5 : 40 in the morning.
If someone's grandmother hasn't signed up for the texts, the emails, can't read twitter or doesn't know how to work the app that's not my problem.

Hi dummy. If your kid is in a car accident in the middle of the night what do you do? Put every hospitals phone number and every possible dorm mate, friend, boyfriend (etcs) number? You really aren't thinking this through.

Emergency calls in the middle of the night all come through. Mcps spent a million dollars on an app that can notify you if the bus is coming but can't prioritize notifications settings? Gmab

Op here. I've never heard of ever Bridge. I did block the number they called from and reported it to attend for robocalling.
