Go I to your recent calls and block and report their number. The chances you hear about an actual emergency from MCPS are nill. You would receive a call from your local school if something happened there

This person will be the parent who says MCPS doesn't communicate anything. Incredible.

Anonymous wrote:OP has a valid complaint here. They don’t usually call for weather delays. I haven’t signed up for phone calls for weather delays and don’t usually receive them. This time my home, cell and work phone rang simultaneously as did my husband and son’s. Fortunately all cells were on do not disturb so I don’t have any major complaints except that this isn’t the usual protocol.

No. OP is an idiot.

+1

Why are some of you so nasty? There are so many devices and methods, and sometimes they don’t work as we think. There are better ways to share your thoughts.

There is probably one person who is sitting on this thread (and this board) all day. Not that many people care. They're called trolls because they live here "under the bridge" all day. Never moving, harping on the same thing over and over.

I suspect it's the person who always makes the same remark about not being able to tell if comments are real or sarcastic because that pattern of repetitive behavior is unusual. I hope they find some help.

That is an abuse of Block and Report.

You filled out a form early on, and this is probably related to that. Try checking with the main office at your school.

They are not nill. They may be close to nill. We HOPE they are nill. But they are not actually nill. If you don't want to hear from MCPS in case of actual emergency, that's your choice.

I really appreciated the wake-up call from MCPS. I had accidentally disabled my alarm that had been set for 5:30 so the call kept me on schedule.

This is OP. I have a child away in college and can't/won't turn off notifications, just incase. I will block the number they called from this morning.
I hope principal interns also understand that the emails, texts and phone calls were enough. We didn't need to jump on Remind and get that message out.there again.

All you are doing is showing us how much you REALLY do not understand how your phone settings work!! You can have an exception for your "away at college" kid's number, and for any other numbers you want to ring through. You can also have random numbers ring through if they call you twice within a few minutes (say, a hospital or police dept). But the random "school is on delay" call would be SILENT.

Please learn your phone settings! You are worse than my 82 year old father!

Hi dummy. If your kid is in a car accident in the middle of the night what do you do? Put every hospitals phone number and every possible dorm mate, friend, boyfriend (etcs) number? You really aren't thinking this through.

Emergency calls in the middle of the night all come through. Mcps spent a million dollars on an app that can notify you if the bus is coming but can't prioritize notifications settings? Gmab

Hi dummy, everyone on the planet knows if you need to get through to a cell in the middle of the night you call more than once to get through the DnD. Functioning in 2023 is so hard for people who just want to be victimized.

Yes!! 95:1 people enjoyed being woken up at 5:40 for a.non emergency. Very plausible

The fact that this is the hill you wanna die on would be comical if it wasn't so pathetic. Grow up.

Just because you and Larla are up at 5:30 am every day catching that worm doesn't mean that a lot of other people aren't still sound asleep at that hour. If you were more liberal, you would recognize that a lot of people work 2nd shift or simply have sleeping patterns different from you.

Nah. I make my own hours, so I normally start work at 10 and I wake up at 9:30 but nice try. I’m also a grown adult who has children, so receiving phone calls from a school during hours when messages are relayed, doesnt bother me. It’s called maturity. Try it sometime because right now you sound like a whiny 14 year old.
