+1 It is the tell that Goulet is supported by DFER (during the Council race) and the Washington Post. Not a single educator or stakeholder in DCPS has endorsed him to my knowledge. |
Maybe, just maybe we try some new ideas. Or are we happy being #49 out of #51? |
Isn't Sriqui doing the same thing? |
|
Not likely. Did Ruth Wattenburg or Laura Slover run for Council?
Goulet has made his intentions known. |
Suddenly switching from ANC WABA candidate to BOE WTU candidate seems to indicate the same level of ambition. I think both candidates suck and wish there was a better way. DC politics is broken. That being said, a private school parent shouldn't be running for the public school Board of Education. |
DFER doesn't bring new ideas. Privatizing education is just a bad idea. |
Matt Frumin had his kids in DCPS k-12. |

The FCCA Newsletter has statements by both candidates: https://foxhall.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/October-2022_FCCA_v6_Final.pdf
Interesting that Goulet's positions echo those of his losing primary campaign and which often contradict those of the candidate who won. Does he think he's going to have more sway than the Ward 3 Councilmember on these issues? It would actually be interesting if Goulet did win. |
He lives walking distance to the highest performing schools in the city. Not exactly a risk taker. |
Yeah, but you can hardly criticize him for living in Ward 3 and sending his kids to school there, then running for Ward 3 D.C. Council seat. If everyone who lives in Ward 3 sent their kids to DCPS all the way through 12th grade, that'd be great. |
If you use NAEP TUDA data (the correct apples to apples comparison), you will see that DCPS performs clearly in the upper middle of the pack with regard to cities. https://www.nationsreportcard.gov/profiles/districtprofile?chort=1&sub=MAT&sj=XQ&sfj=NL&st=MN&year=2019R3 |
| Does it matter. The school board pretty much influences NOTHING in actuality. |
He is knowledgeable and would make a good At Large Rep, but he doesn’t seem to have the fire in the belly for the upcoming school redistricting fight. We need someone who is going to fight for Ward 3 and I don’t get the impression he’s up for this fight which is going to require a hard conversation about school boundaries. |
I don't know the guy, but his BOE run has all the appearances as an attempt to parlay the notoriety he gained from the Council run into some form of elected position, regardless of what it is. |
Actually, it wouldn't be, because the public schools would be even more crowded. |
