Goulet vs Sriqui Ward 3 Board of Education Race

Anonymous
Florida just crushed the latest National Assessment of Educational Programs report card. Their political leadership pushed back on the teachers union. DC political leaders were pushed over by the teachers union and we lost decades of gains and created a youth mental health crisis. Why would anyone support the preferred WTU candidate? What is wrong with you?

Agreed. He even knew it was shady before he did it. He asked the Office of Campaign Finance whether it was legal to display the logos before doing it. He knew something was sketchy/unethical, but chose to do it anyway because it was legal. Totally unfit for office.

Checking in advance is the ethical thing to do.

This seems like a harmless thing designed to get kids thinking about SBOE. I won't be voting for Goulet, but this is much ado about nothing.

Disagree. He is appropriating logos of schools without any permission and the implication is an endorsement, which would be illegal. If I were a parent at any of those schools, particularly in the volunteer leadership, I would be furious.

For us normal people who don't care about a candidate being a "sore loser" or whatever you all are rattling on about, can we redirect the debate back to what these two candidates will actually do in office?

Other than Goulet supporting Finley's idea for the District acquiring the Whittle School (intelsat campus) and using it for a new middle school +/or high school, their policy differences appear minimal.

Both of them support it. Goulet may have tweeted his support of the idea, but Sriqui actually supported it by voting to pass a resolution urging DC to buy the property on the ANC last week.

So you’re not a parent at any of these schools, so you’re just here to stir the pot?

I mean sure he is an autocrat set on destroying democracy, but he did lower my taxes.

He may have tried to exterminate the Jews, but his light-touch approach to regulatory policy sure did goose the economy.

I am a parent of alumni of these schools, just not a current parent.

Their policy differences may be minimal, but their direct experiences with DCPS vary widely.

What difference does it make? These are public schools funded by taxpayer dollars. Anyone paying taxes is entitled to weigh in on how the schools are being run and how their taxes are being spent.

Talk about missing the point…

Of course anyone is entitled to weigh in. That does mean we are all equally qualified to do so.

You don’t honestly live your life failing to understand this distinction, do you?

SBOE plays no role in a decision like this. None.
