You are making a lot of presumptions and drawing conclusions based on those presumptions. Are these logos trademarked or copywrighted? Who owns that trademark or copywright? Did his use of the logos require permission? Who did he need to receive that permission from? Do you have sufficient information to answer these questions? |
It's pretty clear that was a sketchy use and inappropriate. His reasoning doesn't pass the smell test. |
Not totally clear he has the Post's permission to use their logo. actually -- I don't think the endorsement conveys anything from a copyright standpoint -- but obviously it would be silly for them to pursue a claim against a candidate who they endorsed. |
The fact that Goulet ignored a cease and desist letter is a tell that addresses your questions. |
| Yup. It was a stupid move to being with. He should have been served a cease and desist letter to remove all of the offending signs. Yet he was pigheaded enough to ignore the letters of protest he received and now we are stuck with him. |

E-mail from Eric Goulet to the Palisades Listserv, November 7, 2:54pm:
“I got the inclusion of the logos approved by the Office of Campaign Finance ahead-of-time” He needs to resign. |
|
If these tweets are right — and Goulet doesn’t appear to be contesting the quotes — Goulet was told by DCPS and OCF to not use the logos ahead of time.
“The attorney for the DCPS Office of the General Counsel confirmed that she had provided the same advice to Mr. Goulet and OCF followed up advising Mr. Goulet to comply with the advice provided by DCPS.” https://mobile.twitter.com/Abdh372/status/1598814511603093504 |
When will the “Middle Finger Five” ANC 3C commissioners resign, especially Sauleh Siddiqui, Janelle Pagats, amd Hayden Gise? Flicking off a locally owned business and Tweeting “F” your constituents should be disqualifying. |
He needs to RESIGN over a campaign sign? I mean, I didn't vote for him, but that seems rather extreme. |
Whataboutism is the lowest form of debate |
He doesn't *need* to do anything. And if he continues in Trump style he'll go on the offensive rather than apologize. |
