Probably for the same reason the council members never do. |
He was ACTUALLY, endorsed by the teachers union that kept your kid VIRTUAL for 1.5 years. So there’s that. |
Was there an organization that was in favor of kids at school that supports Eric? My point is that Eric or any candidate being an adversary of the union wont be productive. |
The WTU pinched their nose and endorsed Sriqui not because they liked him but because they know Goulet was demonstrably unfit. |
This is untrue. Cheh's kid when to Murch. My kids were classmates with a child of Mayor Fenty at another Ward 3 DCPS ES. Mendelson sent his kid(s) to Key. |
There were a lot of other players who made that happen, and it's also not the teachers union's only issue. I'm not automatically voting against anyone who the teachers union has endorsed. |
| What does the BOE rep actually do, if anything? |
|
There was an online forum for both of them last week. Sponsored by the Wilson Feeder Education Network (W3EdNet) Notifications went out to Deal parents. I don't know about other Ward 3 DCPS schools.
I watched the forum and my takeaway is this: I'm voting for Sriqui. Goulet was more poised and eloquent (or slicker depending on your point of view) but I liked what Sriqui said better, even if he didn't say it as well. Goulet talked about all these ideas for the Whittle school property, which seemed really unlikely. |
It seems that he and the ANC 3D rep from NIMBYland are selling the Whittle option as an alternative to Foxhall Elementary. This is total nonsense. |
And Sriqui proudly posted that endorsement on his website. It’s like a giant middle finger to me and my neighbors who had kids that struggled mightily while their friends who attended private correctly went to school in person happily and safely. |
Itnis mostly curricular work...something Goulet knows absolutely nothing about. He only wants this eat to be a launch for a future Council run. |
I don't think Goulet understand that under DC Law, DC public school facilities need to be owned, not leased. |
Poster you quoted here - the law was repeatedly restated to him during the debate by Sriqui and he never had a good response to it. It was annoying to say the least. As for Sriqui touting the WTU endorsement, Goulet was endorsed by the Washington Post for this election and I'm going to assume Sriqui is promoting all endorsements just so it doesn't seem like Goulet has them all. |
| At what point does someone start to wonder that maybe elected office isn’t their calling? |
|
Just got a flyer in the mail from Sriqui. Lot's of people I know of on the list of endorsements. People on the ground leading out schools, like the Mann principal, Mann and Hardy PTA presidents, Deal and Jackson-Reed leaders. I'm sure the others are known too, just not to me.
It seems like anyone who knows anything about local public schooling is backing Sriqui. I don't need to learn any more than that. |
